This cottage is a hidden gem. It's absolutely beautiful; totally private with outstanding views. It's fantastic for dogs as they can run around the huge outdoor area safely. The cottage was so cosy and warm and very clean. It was pure relaxation in an outstanding property in an idyllic setting. Truly loved this place.

The location was secluded and private, but not a million miles away from any civilisation! The surroundings were beautiful and the dog was free to roam around. The cottage was beautifully heated throughout, so nice to return into after a brisk early spring day's travelling. The owner was really helpful and welcoming.

The property was wonderful and set in a beautiful and tranquil location. The owner was there on arrival, doing some last minute gardening.. and wow, what a garden! The surrounding area countryside are stunning, at this time of year the young lambs are everywhere...even in the garden, as one lamb and it's Mother managed to sneak in each morning! A perfect, relaxing holiday in every way.

Beautiful location, lovely cottage and garden with lots to do in the area. The children loved the stream in the garden, the lovely hearing owls at night and seeing bats. Enjoyable visits to waterfalls, Bala and Lake Vrynwy, Llangollen village picturesque and enjoyed a horse drawn canal boat ride. Powis castle lovely. We even went to Barmouth beach which was stunning and clean. Local butchers had some great produce and the locals were friendly. We have a very busy working life. Although we live in the country side The 0ld Mill was set in such a quiet and tranquil part of Powys that we felt immediately more relaxed. The farm next door was completely separate and gave us absolute privacy; which was wonderful for our rescue dog who is initially nervous of new dogs. The Old Mill was really well equipped and enabled us to relax and enjoy our evenings after 10-12 miles of walking. The property was so full of character and history and created a real atmosphere for our very sunny holiday. Everyone we met in the village was warm and welcoming. We also met some very friendly local people when we were out hiking in two or three other areas. Information about the area was also helpful. We hope to book the Old Mill again for 2014.

Quiet location in the countryside with good access to mid Wales and Shropshire, with its impressive scenery and places of interest. We were impressed by the cosiness of the property and the owner made us feel very welcome with Bara Brith and flowers in the property on arrival.

June 2016
If you love being in the countryside with the sounds of nature all around, this is the place for you. We adored our stay at The Mill. Yes we were spoilt with a week of sunshine and warmth, but not only that, as soon as you're in the Mill you feel de-stressed and relaxed. The accommodation on three floors works well. The gardens were a delight, our children had great fun building dams in the stream, playing pooh sticks off the bridge and ball games in the large grounds. The cottage is surrounded by fields, with sheep bleating in the distance and Red Kites soaring over head. Although you enjoy the feeling of being remote, you're only a short drive to the village. Here you'll find a good Spar for day to day shopping, along with a butchers, chemist etc. 100% we are going to go back to The Mill and stay. The area has lots to explore, some of the scenery is just beautiful. We had an action packed week of mountain walks, riverside walks, quad biking, retail therapy in local towns and even a trip to the seaside (Barmouth).

August 2011
Secluded and peaceful, all the facilities at hand, ideal for families, loads of outside playing space and secure. Very good value for money and central to most areas.

March 2016
As soon as we arrived at the Mill (down a dark lane but easy to find thanks to the excellent directions), we were warmly welcomed by the owner of the property and shown around - I fell in love. Beautifully decorated with traditional beams, books and board games to borrow, it was characterful and modern at the same time. We stayed on a brisk early spring weekend but the property was always heated and cosy inside, and impeccibly clean. Everything you may need was provided, from drying racks to umbrellas to recycling. It even had sky TV. The grounds were beautiful - perfect for my dog to roam around with the sounds of baby lambs in the fields around. It had a stream running throuugh which was beautiful and would be lovely for sitting beside in summer months. It was secluded and private, but only a few minutes from civilisation should you need to nip to the shops. The local area was stunning, literally minutes from the start of Snowdonia National park with some amazing views/walks/drives all over. I wish we had stayed longer.
August 2013
Our first visit to Powys but it won't be our last! Welcoming and local property owner did everything to ensure that we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful part of Wales.
