The small Cornish town of Lostwithiel sits in the Fowey river valley. The town offers antique shops, pubs, retaurants and a famers' market. Along the coast you will find small fishing ports and areas of great historical interest, whilst further afield is the Eden Project.

The Old Smithy is in a great location in the centre of Lostwithiel, there's no allocated parking but you may strike lucky and get a spot In the street. If not there's a carpark a few minutes walk away. The cottage has lots of character, downstairs consists of a one room kitchen/dining area/seating area with a separate shower/utility room. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, two with en suites, one double bed, one with two single beds and one with bunk beds. There's a small courtyard at the rear of the cottage which would be lovely in summer (accessed by bi-fold doors). The kitchen is well equipped with all the utensils you'd need on a holiday including a dishwasher. There's a wood burner stove for those chilly nights in addition to the central/underfloor heating. It's a five minute walk to two pubs which both serve great food, the Globe especially, and there's a Chinese takeaway just up the road. Any negatives? Well, bed comfort is always a personal thing but we (two couples) found the mattresses uncomfortable and it would be nice to slot the two singles together instead of one couple sleeping separately! There's only seating for 4 people too, other than at the dining table. A great location for a holiday in Cornwall though.

Highly recommend this place - we didn't want to leave. A great central location within a stones throw of shops, restaurants and the picturesque river and bridge. The cottage had everything we needed and more.
