With somany walks and cycle trails through the spectacular scenery, The Matlocks make a wonderful holiday destination.

Great cottage, the views were excellent due to being high above the town. Cottage was incredibly well equipped. We will definitely book again when we come back to Derbyshire.

Loved every minute of it! There were amazing views from the bedroom and living room. It was a lovely little cottage in a quiet area, would definitely stay again as LOVE Matlock Bath/Matlock and all the walks around the area.

A great little cottage with good views. There were a good variety of things to visit nearby which would cater to most tastes.

We rented this Cottage for our first Wedding anniversary and it was perfect. Even though it was a terraced house, it was so quiet and peaceful, you would think you had a house in the middle of nowhere! We particularly liked the patio outside seating area; we had a lovely breakfast there on our first morning and later on that evening we sat out as the sun was setting. I recommend this lovely Cottage to anyone.

A fantastic location as a base to explore the Peaks. We were very lucky with the great weather and able to sit out on the front terrace to have our meals and enjoy the amazing views.

Fabulous view from the front patio and main bedroom made the steep hill up to the property worthwhile. The only downside to the property was that the parking was five minutes walk away - up the hill! I would not recommend to very unfit or disabled people for this reason.

This was a lovely quiet cottage with beautiful views across the surrounding countryside. The cottage had everything we needed, it was homely and cosy with comfortable furnishings. It was simply decorated with lovely paintings throughout. On sunny mornings it was lovely to sit outside on the terrace for breakfast and enjoy the butterflies.

It's a beautiful, warm cottage, with stunning views from the front windows in all weathers. There are also many paintings by Colin Halliday in every room, which are stunning and really add to the atmosphere of the place. The owners have supplied everything you could possibly need for your stay there and you quickly feel at home. The beds are comfy, there is on-demand hot water and a washer/dryer. Neighbours were all friendly but not intrusive. Contact with the owners (via phone and email) was easy, very friendly and very welcoming. Also one of the the best value properties we've seen! There's a patio area out the front which is perfect for morning coffee while you take in the views. Plenty of footpaths all around, either into the countryside or between Matlock Bath and the surrounding villages. Despite the countryside views, the cottage is still only a 5 minute walk from the station (straight down!) on the Matlock-Derby-Nottingham line, and lots of things are within walking distance. Streets are very steep and narrow so, while it's possibly to drive to the cottage to unload, you need to park on the next road down - we never had any problems finding a parking space. We really enjoyed our stay there, and would recommend it to anyone who was capable of walking up the very steep hills! (Useful exercise to counteract the fantastic food available in the area - the Chocolate Shop in Matlock Bath is well worth a visit...)

This cottage (terrace house) has been freshly renovated while retaining some lovely original features. Super views across the valley from the master bedroom. The house is at the top of a series of steep roads, so not suitable for people with mobility problems (or if your car doesn't have a good handbrake!) The owners were very efficient and helpful on the phone. All bedding etc fresh and modern. Sofa bed in sitting room was fine for teenage daughter. The only downside is the size of the kitchen. If you want to cook proper meals for a family of 4 or 5, you will find the kitchen very small and food storage space is very limited. Luckily there are pubs and restaurants at the bottom of the hill, so you don't need to cook. One very nice thing about the house is the owner's husband's paintings on the walls - beautiful. Would gladly return to this property.

Painter's cottage is ideal for a break at any time of year. It is a cosy cottage with great views. There are many lovely walks from the door and Matlock Bath has a good selection of pubs and restaurants. The cottage is up a steep hill but this does mean that the views are wonderful. The owners were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The cottage has everything you need for a holiday base. We definitely plan to return.

Had a lovely autumn stay here. The view from the front of the cottage was fantastic and made being at the top of the hill worth while. The owners made us feel welcome, even leaving treats for our dogs. Clean and tidy and the open fire kept us snug and warm on cold evenings. Hope to stay again one day.
