The Snug was very comfortable and great location for access to the Dales and Leeds Liverpool Canal. Masons Arms pub served good food and The Dalesman tearoom well worth a visit too.

Lovely, clean, warm and spacious cottage. Fantastic location near all amenities. Good local pubs and great Indian restaurant. Well placed for walking in the Dales and not far from Skipton for a shop. It was great were were allowed to stay on our last morning as long as we liked because no-one was due in the cottage. It is our second visit to the Snug and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves...thanks again.

The bungalow was very comfortable light and warm. The Owners were very kind and helpful and made us extremely welcome. The area was lovely with good bus and train services so we did only use our car on two occasions. We would certainly stay here again.

The cottage was clean, modern, airy, cosy and in great location. Handy for local buses and train station.

July 2012
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The cottage had everything you could ask for and there was plenty of parking. It was an easy walk to the train station for connections to Skipton, Leeds, Morecambe and Carlisle (on the Settle to Carlisle line). Take the train to Morecambe and stroll the couple of miles along the promenade to Heysham, a really pretty little village with an excellent hotel with great food and drink. Take a walk along the canal to Skipton (about 5 miles) where there are plenty of good teashops, pubs and eating places, then catch the bus back!

The accommodation was perfect for two people. It was a wonderful place to come back to at the end of the day. The cottage is in a lovely village, well situated for visiting the Yorkshire Dales. A good local pub (Masons Arms) serving good home cooked meals. There is a supermarket next door to the cottage. The owners were lovely and on hand if you needed them. The welcome pack was an lovely unexpected surprise.

We liked the welcome and the location, and the cottage we rented was exactly what we needed. Local pubs served several vegetarian options - very rare elsewhere. Lovely walks available on the doorstep meant that the only real driving for the week was there and back!

We have just come back a lovely four night stay at the snug and arbour. We took my elderly mum and her husband on a well deserved break. It was very relaxing and the facilities were brilliant for them as he suffers from parkinsons. The hosts even provided a half step for the step down into the kitchen. The hosts provided a welcome pack and mum couldn't believe it when she was presented with fresh strawberries. Many thanks and hope to return

The perfect place in every way. So clean and comfortable. All the welcome goodies like milk, eggs, crumpets, jam etc. Also the presence of necessary things not always provided - toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, washing up equipment, liquids etc, and lots of extras, like shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Above all, the lovely couple who own it - they even showed us their garden and said we could use it (even though each cottage has it's own lovely garden and sitting area). Can't really put it all into words!

We received a warm welcome from the lovely owners. They couldn't do enough to help and please us. The 'goodies' awaiting us were so thoughtful - everything we needed after a long journey, the wherewithal to make drinks, milk and butter, crumpets and jam, cherries and other things I can't remember. The decor was perfect, stylish but restful. The kitchen/dining room was nicely furnished and equipped with all we needed. There were facilities for laundry if we needed them. There were Velux windows in the kitchen which added to the lightness of it. The lounge area was again equipped with all we could require. The shower room was a wonderful experience - I'd never used such an 'obedient' shower. There was a large wardrobe area and the biggest bed I'd ever seen. Everything was spotless throughout. We had our own, very private, outdoor seating area/summerhouse, with table and chairs. We were also invited to walk and sit in the owners' own garden if we wanted to. There was ample car parking space. The owners were real Christians (and I mean that in the best possible way), involved in village and community life, and so caring. They were never intrusive but always there if we needed them. We even got clean towels half-way through the week. It was nice to chat to the owners as we used to live in the area and knew quite a lot of people in common. I may have forgotten some things after two months, but all we can say was it was a perfect place run by lovely people and where we had a lovely holiday.

Fantastic place to stay. The snug is very spacious yet cosy and has everything you need and more. The owners are so welcoming, even providing goodies on arrival! The bed is really comfy, bathroom and lounge area lovely and the kitchen has every utensil and pot and pan you could ask for! The cottage is very clean and even has its own utility area with washing machine if you needed it. There is a supermarket next door, a pub across the road, another within 10 minutes walk and an Indian restaurant 5 minutes away. With beautiful surroundings, routes to all Yorkshire has to offer easily accessible what more can you ask for?

As regular visitors to North Yorkshire (family in Skipton), we wish we had found The Snug, Gargrave years ago! For my disabled wife, it is perfect with level access, if required or just 1 manageable step down/back up in & out of both doors & just 1 manageable step between the kitchen/dining area & the lounge area & the owners provided a plastic, intermediate step to make things easier. The shower is very easily accessible with just a 3 or 4 inch lip to step over. The accommodation is 5 star luxury with everything gleaming & looking brand spanking new. The Snug is very spacious with EVERYTHING you need for a lovely holiday/short break & the bed/bed linen is so very comfortable - very hard to get out of! Hugh & Janet are so very welcoming, warm, friendly & helpful with nothing to much trouble. The unexpected goodies (butter, choccy biccies, fresh strawberries, milk, scones & strawberry jam) were very welcome. Finally, everything on your doorstep - buses, Indian, pubs, supermarket & trains. Thank you ever so much.

owners very pleasant and helpful, cottage off the main road, spotlessly clean and well furnished. Garden a little untidy due solely to severe gales, I got the impression it is normally very nice. Overall a very pleasant experience in a beautiful part of the country. Would highly recommend

Ideal place to stay for the Yorkshire Dales, the bungalow had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. It was lovely and clean and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Also there is shop, places to eat and interesting walks within a very short distance from the front door. We will be definitely returning.
