The Wee Local Countryside Cottage description

Holiday home
The Wee Local is a delightful, cosy cottage annexe, attached to the owner's home, on the outskirts of the village of Tarbet, just 1.2 miles from Arrochar and near the stunning Loch Lomond in Scotland's beautiful Argyllshire. The property can sleep two people and has a double bedroom (zip/link, can be twin on request) with an en-suite shower room, a kitchen with a breakfast bar and a sitting room with a dining area and a woodburner. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, shared use of the front garden and a private side patio with furniture and a barbecue. The Wee Local is a lovely property and an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland.

The small village of Tarbet in Argyll and Bute is close to the village of Arrochar which is situated at the head of Loch Long – the most northerly point in the network of lochs that extend from the Clyde Estuary. This region is very popular amongst climbers, due to its proximity to Ben Arthur, often referred to as the Cobbler, and various other peaks. Also in the area is the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The village itself offers an unusually large selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is just a mile and a half away from another Loch Lomondside village - Tarbert. The impressive expanse of water of Loch Lomond provides a variety of interesting and exciting activities such as a gentle stroll through the Balloch Castle Country Park and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. There are numerous other walking and climbing opportunities throughout the region.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

My mother and I had a very comfortable stay in The Wee Local. We were very comfortable, with the added bonus of wi-fi. I would recommend a stay in this cottage.

The cottage had a real home from home feel. We enjoyed seeing the garden birds and red squirrels outside our door. As hill walkers the location was perfect for us.

A relaxing, rural retreat. It was quiet, and surrounded by stunning scenery. It was exactly what I was looking for, an escape from the normal, busy lifestyle I lead.

The cottage is in an excellent location, close to a station for day trips to Glasgow, Oban and Mallaig. We went to climb The Munros and Corbetts, there is plenty to keep you occupied. The Cobbler and Beinn Narnain are both nearby. The facilities are excellent for a small party, it's a very warm cottage so your gear dries well overnight. It has everything you need to self cater. We will be returning.

Myself and husband stayed here for a week at the end of June. The annexe is perfectly situated to explore this beautiful area. The accommodation is a home from home, very clean, comfortable beds, with all the wee extra touches like toilet roll, hand wash, washing up liquid etc already there for you, together with a small amount of tea, coffee, sugar and milk to get you started, not forgetting a bottle of wine and shortbread too! A great TV with sky + an added bonus with both the World Cup and Wimbledon to watch! Situated between Tarbet and Arrochar (ten mins walk to Tabet and about twenty five to Arrochar with a fair few eating places dotted about. The train station is a few minutes walk up behind the property and there are regular buses to all the different areas. Lots of wildlife at the annexe with its own private patio at the side - seen red squirrels regularly. So peaceful and quiet even though it's situated near the main road and railway station with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep. One tip though - the nearest big supermarket is 17 miles away so stock up before you go. There are a couple of village shops in Arrochar for bits and pieces.

The property was a home from home - everything was perfect. Beautiful area and the property was an ideal base to explore. Great walking all around with enough eating places in the two nearby villages.

I stay regularly in Scotland as a keen mountain climber. This cottage is one of best rentals I have ever taken up. Cosy, clean and fantastically well equipped and in a brilliant location for the Arrochar Alps. I wish they were all like it!

we stayed here for a 2 week last 2 weeks of July, we used this a a base as we spentt a lot of time watching the Commonweath games in Glasgow, this was a great place for location as we had a 20 min drive into Dumbarton were we caught the train into Glasgow the first few days we explore this beautiful area and the annexe is perfectly situated to do that . The accommodation is a home from home, very clean, comfortable beds A great feature is that they have here is the full Sky package very rare for a Rental cottage. The location is perfect for train rides into the highlands it is a 5 min walk to Tarbet and Arrochar railway station were we caught the train to Fort william what a treat that was the views were breath taking. Also you can see the Sleeper train go past the cottage it goes south in the evening and passes the cottage at about 7am in the morning going north. . Also the wild life is great we saw the red squirrels regularly from our bedroom window along with a great veiw of the local birds that visited the garden.Next time we visit this part of Scotland we we be using this cottage again.Next time we visit this part of Scotland we we be using this cottage again. Can't fault it even when the nearest supermarket is a few miles away.
