The Willows Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
The Willows is a characterful semi-detached cottage in the village of Bucknell, on the English/Welsh border. The cottage has a double room, a family room with king-size double and single daybed, and another family room with a double and a single. All the bedrooms have a basin and a TV with FreeSat. There is a family bathroom and an additional shower room. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped and offers a couple of sofas for extra space, while the sitting room has a warming open fire. Outside is off road parking for three cars, a front gravelled area, and a side lawned garden with furniture and BBQ. The Willows is in the heart of Bucknell, so offers a shop and two pubs within ten minutes' walk, while the tiny Post Office is next door, and run by the cottage owner.

Nestling in the beautiful River Teme Valley in South Shropshire, Bucknell offers two pubs, which both serve food and within easy reach are the market towns of Craven Arms and Knighton with their excellent amenities for visitors. This is a charming area of unspoiled, tranquil countryside, close to the borders of Wales and Herefordshire, which offers many interesting pursuits and attractions. The notable market town of Ludlow with its fine restaurants, the famous museums of Ironbridge and the thriving county town of Shrewsbury are all a short drive away.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

The Willows is a unique cottage that is full of its own individual character. The front room feels like a step back in time with shelves full of old tins, books and other memorabilia. The cottage is in the heart of the village and the railway station, two pubs and the strangest general store you'll ever see all within walking distance.

A wonderful character property in a beautiful setting. The cottage has some real quirky details and a great collection of books, if only we could have stayed longer. Thanks to the owner of the cottage and the adjoining Post Office, he knows everything about the local area and has a great sense of humour with it.

We loved the cottage. It was particularly appreciated for the information on local walks in the area, and also about the history of the cottage itself. Fabulous place and friendly owners. Highly recommended - beautiful!

The Willows provides delightful, if somewhat quirky accommodation, which we loved once we got used to it. It was warm and welcoming, throughout our stay, with helpful owners and neighbours when we had any queries. The location in the village, gave good access for local walks and plenty of scope for longer walks and cycle rides, in the surrounding country.

The cottage was ideal for us all as we like to be outbound on foot and mountain bikes. The lounge seated us all comfortably and the two showers were brilliant for cleaning us all up after a walk or ride in the local woods. The bedrooms were big and cosy with lovely beds. We would go back.

Relaxed, easy-going country accommodation. A helpful, warm welcome.

A spacious, comfortable, and well equipped house, in a very nice, well-connected village. The villagers whom we met were welcoming and interested in our presence. The house has some drawbacks which reflect its varied history. It was obviously a village shop and the kitchendining room had the serving counter and shelves to show that former use. But it felt open to the public, with passers by seeing us at breskfast - never a pretty sight. And the sitting room, by contrast, was dark and cramped. All was forgiven in the face of our host's helpfulness and friendliness, and the beauty of rhe surrounding countryside.

Really nice comfortable property, used to be the village store in the 1920's, friendly owners have left the original fittings in the kitchen/diner, great entertaining room, bedrooms are huge and bathrooms great, powerful showers (a must), lovely garden, village location great for all local attractions, if you love nature and outdoor pursuits you need to come here, Shropshire is a very underrated county. Ludlow is a must to visit for all foodies.
