A tranquil location with good access to inland and coastal places of interest, we are familiar to the East Coast but found new places to visit and eat because the owners were so very helpful but in no way intrusive. The Cabin is very well located, equipped and comfortable, we found everything we could have possibly needed for our stay. Looking forward to returning again and again.
Mrs Roby

The log cabin is situated in a wonderful area with great views. It was cosy and spotless with a huge lawn garden which our dog loved. We were just a short drive away to walk in the spectacular North Yorkshire moors , which we did lots of time. There was a good pub which did food a few minutes walk away which was dog friendly. The owners were lovely and helpful. An ideal position to get to coast and country.

The lovely welcome from the hostess, who took the time during the week to see that we were enjoying our stay. She recommended local shops, pubs and places to go. She also remembered all our names including the dog and chatted to the children. The log cabin was beautifully kitted out and looked really fresh and spotless. The wine, flowers and biscuits are a lovely touch and were very much appreciated after our journey.

The log cabin is a novel place to stay. It is really cosy and comfortable. The owners have the balance just right between being available and welcoming yet not intrusive. The garden is superb and use of the conservatory during bad weather is a real bonus. Absolutely fantastic place, we've been before and we will go again. The little touches, like milk in the fridge and biscuits, on arrival really are appreciated. The owners are so friendly and brilliant, offering buckets, spades and fishing nets for the kids. The welcome given by Val on our arrival could not have been warmer, and she was justly proud of the cabin. Even though it was a pet friendly cabin you would never have known any animals had ever been in it as it was scrupulously clean - not a dog hair in evidence. The cabin was far enough from the house to be completely private though near enough to pop over when we had any queries. The beds were so comfortable that a good night's sleep was guaranteed, and the roomy living area was very inviting. On the beautiful days we were lucky enough to have it was lovely to sit on the verandah in the early evening just listening to the birds singing. Set in the countryside on the edge of the national park, both the open moors and the coast were within a few minutes drive. There was a good pet-friendly pub opposite and plenty of places to walk the dog in safety. The garden boasted a trampoline that was ideal for children, I was tempted to have a go myself but decided it might be a challenge too far! I could find nothing to complain about in the cabin, it was a lovely place to stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone considering booking it for a break. The only possible negative would be that the garden is not fenced in at the front so the dog needed to be taken out on the lead at all times, but that is a very minor point and it wouldn't deter me from booking the cabin again.

The property makes for an excellent base for travelling to the coast or the North Yorkshire Moors. The property owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The property is spotlessly clean. The pub is just two minutes walk across the road; the food and service are second to none and the staff are very accommodating and everyone is dog friendly. November 2005
Upon arrival we were given the warmest of welcomes by the owners, we were staying in a cabin of the highest quality and maintained to immaculate standards. The evenings we spent in doors were warm and cosy in the very comfortable lounge. The heating (panel heaters and electric log effect stove) was efficient and produced a cosy enough atmosphere for any winter's night. I would recommend this property to anyone unreservedly.
Mrs Shephard
September 2005
The furnishings were of very high standards and the cleanliness was unbeatable. They really have thought of everything in this cabin, even down to a set of swings by the patio door. They made a real fuss of our daughters and made us feel like we were staying with friends rather than in a holiday cottage.
Mrs Lowe

We had such a great time in Thornlea thanks to the lovely location, excellent attention to detail in the cottage, the amazing surroundings and the perfect host family. Val was there at 2.00am to welcome us after a long long drive. We had a lovely chilled bottle of wine waiting in the fridge and some delicious biscuits too. Our little girls loved the trampoline and swings and the nearby beaches. We left totally refreshed and can't wait to go back!
Emma Webb
September 2010
Lovely holiday had by everyone, spacious cabin, with excellent hosts. The children had access to a trampoline and swings, plus a huge garden to run around. The welcome gifts of milk, chocky biscuits and a bottle of wine were a lovely gesture. The only issue we had was the rugs on the floor were loose and slipping on the varnished floor. As a member of our family was disabled, we found this quite dangerous, so we took them up and rolled them, put in a corner. They could have been secured with many gadgets available nowadays, and commented in the visitors book about it. Otherwise a perfect location thats open all year round and in a beautiful part of the country, accessable to a great many beaches.
