Town End Farmhouse Family Cottage description

Holiday home
Town End Farmhouse is a detached 17th century cottage located in the Lake District National Park, 1.3 miles from Newby Bridge. Benefiting from four comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms, this cottage can sleep up to eight people. The cottage also contains a kitchen with dining area, a dining room, a sitting room and a utility room. To the outside of the cottage there is a patio garden with furniture. Town End Farmhouse is situated in a fantastic position, just five minutes' drive from Lake Windermere, it is ideal for friends and families looking to tour the beautiful Lake District National Park.

Area
The charming old village of Newby sits in a secluded location in the upper Eden valley, between the northern Pennines and the Lake District. The area, with its better-known neighbours of Appleby and Penrith, is surrounded by lovely rolling landscapes and is often described as having a special, unchanging beauty. The village itself is surrounded by open fields supporting cattle, sheep and horses and offers a delightful village pond providing a haven for ducks, wild flowers and marsh iris. The nearby historic town of Appleby is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. A major stop on the scenic Settle to Carlisle railway line, Appleby is well worth a visit with its 15th Century architecture, a Norman Castle and the 300 year old annual horse fair. With the delightful Pooley Bridge and the magnificent lake at Ullswater just a short drive away, this is an ideal holiday location.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

The owner was very friendly and easy to deal with. We enjoyed doing jigsaws in the dining room and that gave us extra space in the cottage. There were seven of us but the cottage was easily big enough, and there were lots of big pans, crockery etc. We had a lovely Christmas here.

Lovely property, exceptionally well equipped for an holiday let. Comfortable with well thought out fully functional furniture and fittings. It felt like we were returning home when we walked in. A first class property, which contributed to a first class holiday.

Town End Farmhouse is a well presented and very well equipped house. The owner was easily contacted and very prompt in giving advice and support. Private but very well positioned for rapid access to the Lakes and Fells.

It was a home from home which was very well equipped and spacious. Loved the remoteness and we were fairly lucky with the weather. Would love to visit again and have told everyone we've spoken to how impressed we were.

The location was superb; extremely accessible yet felt remote and cosy. There was plenty to do on the doorstep of the cottage, the train, boat, walking, pubs. The garden was beautiful and rustic. The cottage itself was extremely light and airy and yet cosy and comfortable at the same time. It was lovely that wood was provided for the log burner and the kitchen was plentifully equipped with absolutely everything. Have already recommended to my friends and hope to visit again in the very near future.

Excellent position for access to the Lake District; both tourist areas and off the beaten track. A great spot to relax at the end of a busy day. Telephone call from the owner on arrival to check everything was OK was much appreciated.

The cottage was gorgeous - wonderful tranquil location, fabulous garden, lots of space and much MUCH nicer than the website suggested - the pictures don't do justice to the modern bathrooms, spacious kitchen and cosy set-up. The dining room was great for a large group. Kitchen was very well equipped. Wifi was very useful.
