A wonderful cottage in a beautiful village on the edge of the North York Moors. Perfect for walking, cycling or just relaxing in front of the open fire with a good book and a glass of wine. The owners were wonderful hosts. The cottage has everything you could want for plus more. We highly recommend Lastingham Grange Hotel further up the lane, their afternoon teas are wonderful

Lovely cottage and we appreciated the sound of silence; there was nothing at all to disturb the tranquillity. The owners were most helpful and overall this was a super location for some 'down' time.

The cottage was clean warm when we arrived. The underfloor heating on the ground floor was lovely. The kitchen was well equipped and had a large table chairs and there was still loads of space. The bath rain shower facility in the bedroom is unusual and excellent and there is also an en-suite, a main bathroom and a downstairs loo. There were loads of games DVDs for kids and there is a landline with internet access provided. The town is peaceful and there is a pub a hotel that serve superb food, both within walking distance.

The cottage is a little gem, being fitted out to a high standard; it is located perfectly, with walks straight from the door. For visitors who have never been to the North York Moors before, you are missing a superb area that is great for walking, mountain biking and general touring. We bathed every morning and watched the lambs, pheasant and partridges in the field at the rear. Under floor heating was lovely and I now also want it for my own home. It turned out to be a great remedy for tired and aching feet.

Our good experience with Tranmire Cottage in the utterly delightful North York Moors village of Lastingham started with phone calls to the owner who lives next door -- it is wonderful to be able to deal with on-the-spot owners who are helpful, cooperative and welcoming. This attitude continued during our stay. "Trouble with the Internet? I'll be right over!" The cottage is spacious and exactly as described in this beautifully renovated home, with all modern conveniences, with beautiful bedrooms and baths, with comfortable furniture and plenty of storage space, sitting space, eating space and lots of dishes, cooking equipment, and appliances. And as a big bonus, the garden is lovely, full of flowers and bushes and trees; weather was great so days started with tea in the garden and ended with evening night caps there. Views are wonderful -- trees, pastures, sheep and just a short walk up the lane is open moorland with wonderful walks. In the village is a fine pub and the fascinating St Mary's church with its Saxon apsidal crypt. We definitely would return-- one of finest rentals we've done in UK. Our only suggestion would be for more seating in the lovely garden--maybe done comfortable outdoor furniture for relaxing and reading. There were only 4 chairs around a small table for a cottage that sleeps six , thus limiting use of magnificent garden.

Lovely cottage that was tastefully furnished and everything in it you would need for any kind of weather. Fabulous bath in the master bedroom and very good linen. The little touches made a real difference and the whole cottage had a really warm feel to it, almost like a home from home. We had a tiny issue with one of the showers but the owners could not have been more helpful and obliging. Really fantastic customer service lacking in so many places these days, but very much appreciated by us. All in all a lovely week away and we most certainly would go back again.
