Traquair Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Traquair is a detached holiday bungalow located in the fishing village of Eyemouth on the Berwickshire coast. The cottage can sleep six people in three bedrooms - a double, a twin and a single - and on a sofa bed in the sitting room. Guests have use of a bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. The living accommodation consists of a fitted kitchen with dining area, a utility room and a sitting room with gas fire and sofa bed. Outside the cottage is an enclosed, lawned garden to the rear with a patio and furniture. With the Borders countryside to discover and beaches close by, Traquair is a lovely base for a Borders cottage holiday.

Area
Eyemouth is a fishing port situated on the east coast, just over the Scottish border. Gunsgreen House is well worth a visit, where you can learn about the history of the town including its smuggling history. With Berwick upon Tweed 8 miles away and Edinburgh and Newcastle upon Tyne both reached in an hour, Eyemouth is a great base for touring the Scottish Borders.

The bungalow was excellent. It had been recently decorated and was very clean. Well positioned for touring the Borders.

Everything new, bright and clean in this bungalow. It was warm and comfortable and close to the beach and harbour. Highly recommended.

Traquair House was just superb. The location is excellent and Eyemouth is a fabulous town with excellent shops and beach. The house has every convenience and has a great location. We used Eyemouth as a base to explore all the borders area, and will definitely be back!

A good location for getting around that part of the country.

The location was excellent for walking to Eyemouth Harbour and beach. Felt like we 'got away' from it all, but if we needed something it was easily available.

The bungalow was lovely and situated conveniently for a walk down to the harbour and also as a base to go to other places. The bungalow was nicely furnished and well equipped - we would definitely stay there again if we went to that area.

Our accommodation was first class and was on a hill but not too steep and the harbour was only 10 minutes away. We were fortunate to see the seals in the harbour. There are a lot of interesting places to visit in and around Eyemouth, all within a 1 hour journey.

Good location for exploring. Great we could bring the dog with us and there is a pub (Contented Sole) that allows dogs in Eyemouth. Lovely little fishing village.

We enjoyed the holiday because Eyemouth is a lovely coastal town based around a busy fishing harbour and on a particularly beautiful stretch of the north east coast. The town centre is unspoilt with little alleyways and narrow streets and a home bakers shop. There is also a modern supermarket. There are pubs that serve good food and also interesting museums, including the Georgian Villa, Gunners Green, which has been opened up for visits. Part of the visit is about smugglers which children can take an active part in. Our 3 year old really enjoyed his visit there. There is a little sandy beach there which the children enjoyed. Also a beautiful cliff top walk to Coldingham where you can have a pub lunch and a bus ride back to Eyemouth. The accommodation was comfortable and there was adequate equipment and space for our party of 4 adults and two small children. It was also close to the town centre: about 10 minutes walk.

The cottage was excellent. I was particularly happy with the garden, and the convenience of the large green area.

The bungalow was a home from home, with plenty of walks and places to visit in the area, excellent! 'Contented Sole' does a lovely steak.

Splendid holiday in an excellent cottage, very pleased to be able to take our dog. We will be back for a longer visit, many thanks.

October 2012
The bungalow was spacious and comfortable with a fair sized lawn that our dog adored. Eyemouth is a small and friendly village. The pool at the local leisure centre is very good indeed. The village is also an excellent base from which to explore the Borders generally.

We stayed here last autumn and really liked it. The improvements to the sitting room and the new fire are excellent. The utility area is a real asset if you bring a dog and the garden is also excellent.

Nice to have a house to stay in rather than bed and breakfast. Great garden for the dogs and a great utility room for them to sleep in and lovely big sink to wash them in. Had a relaxed stay!

October 2012
Lovely area and friendly people. Short walk to the beach and had a grand time with my dog. The cottage itself felt very homely and would love to visit again.

we found the cottage lovely but. we think we should have been informed about the demolition work next door as the noise and dust did not make it a peaceful holiday. the work my go on for long time as they my be building 90 houses there so be warned
