Ty Mawr Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Ty Mawr is a detached cottage in Manod. The cottage sleeps four people and has a double and a twin room with original stripped wood flooring and exposed stone walls. This cottage has a beamed, farmhouse kitchen and dining area with original slate floor and feature stone fireplace, and a cosy sitting room with warming woodburning stove set in a large inglenook hearth. Outside is off road parking for one car and an enclosed patio leading to a terraced garden. Ty Mawr makes for a convenient and characterful base for enjoying this lovely part of Wales.

The mountain of Manod Mawr has a long history of slate mining and some of the underground chambers were used to house National Treasures during the 2nd World War. Manod village is located in a natural bowl between the Manod and Moelwyn mountains and is well served by a number of shops and pubs, which are used to serving travellers on their way to Betws-Y-Coed, the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia' and the village at the base of Mount Snowdon. Many of Manod's old slate quarries are now tourist attractions, giving fascinating insights into the work undertaken by slate miners in years gone by. The nearby Ffestioniog Railway takes passengers on stunning scenic routes through the North Wales countryside. There are many good walks and cycle-trails to be found in the area and Manod's location provides easy access to other attractions such as Portmeirion - the Italian-designed village used as the setting for the cult TV-show, ‘The Prisoner' – and the white-water rafting opportunities provided at Bala.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

The warmth of the cottage and the combination of traditional features with quirky furnishings made it enjoyable for me to stay in of an evening with my family.

The cottage was an absolute dream. We have 2 teenage daughters and they were so delighted with the bedroom they shared. Our 2 dogs were also very cosy in the spacious utility room. Everything was just perfect about the cottage. I would like the owner to come and design my house interior, she has done a wonderful job of this cottage. While we enjoyed the cottage so much we managed to pull ourselves away to walk the beaches at Harlech and visited the castle, we also climbed Snowdon.

The cottage was traditional but very comfortable. We felt right at home. We took our two dogs with us, they had a great time and the use of the back room essential for drying them off. The only thing we wished we could have changed was the weather, but that's November for you. We will be back, hopefully when the sun shines.

We loved this cosy cottage, which has been beautifully furnished. We had lovely walks in the hills behind the house and found lots to do in the area. White-water rafting and Bounce Below were especially good fun.

We loved every minute in this lovely little cottage. We met some really nice locals that gave us some very good tips and assistance in where to go. The walks were out of this world and they were right on our doorstep. Overall we loved our stay, the cottage made it very special. We are thinking of booking up again for next New Year's Eve. The owner is a lovely lady who was more than helpful to us on our stay.

Ty Mawr is a beautiful cottage set in a picturesque part of North Wales. It made a great base for exploring Blaenau Ffestiniog and the surrounding areas. The owner has thought of everything, the house is stylish yet homely. There's also plenty of storage space which is very useful. We'd love to stay again, thank you for such a lovely holiday home!

This is a delightful, well equipped cottage with views of the mountains. The cottage is in a good location to go out from and explore Snowdonia Natioal Park. Internet and mobile phone usage in the whole area is weak but this can be got around by visiting one of many pubs, restraunts or cafe,s in the area that have free WiFi and searching out the web pages for the places you want to visit and taking a screen photo which can thrn be used at any time. The Grapes pub at Meantrogm shuch a place which is a good place to go and has free WiFi

What a wonderful cottage in a splendid location for exploring the beautiful area. There are spectacular walks right on your doorstep and many more just a short drive away. And much, much more to do - we had such wonderful weather that we still have a whole list of other things to come back and do next year! The cottage was beautifully decorated, with lovely finishing touches - it was like home-from-home. I would recommend it to anyone!
