Valley View Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Valley View is a cosy and tasteful, single-storey terraced stone barn conversion near Honiton. The cottage sleeps four people in a double and a twin room. There is also a wet room, a kitchen and a sitting room with a dining area. For the winter months, there is oil-fired, under-floor heating which makes the cottage a toasty place to be. In summer, the only place to be is outside in the large, lawned garden that offers ample opportunity for a good, old-fashioned barbeque. This cottage is an idyllic haven for a small family or a group of friends.

Situated in the heart of the Blackdown Hills is the traditional Devon village of Upottery. The Blackdown Hills have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offer excellent opportunities for bird watchers, walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. The 'otter' in the village's name is taken from the nearby River Otter. In 2006, Upottery won the 'Best Kept Village in Devon' and remains a well-tended, well-looked after hamlet that is radiant with flowers in the summer months. History enthusiasts and amateur archaeologists will welcome a chance to visit the fossil beaches of Lyme Regis and Charmouth, part of the West Country's Jurassic Coast. You can easily spend a day here with a fossil-hammer, collecting ammonites, or simply enjoying the rugged coastline. 23 miles away from Upottery, you will find the Cathedral City of Exeter. Exeter is an historic city, boasting original Roman walls, underground passages and a 10th Century Cathedral. In addition, it is well-served by a fantastic shopping centre and a wide range of bars and restaurants to choose from

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Valley View was everything I had hoped. It was our first time with Sykes and they didn't disappoint. The view was just wonderful and we met the owners who were so nice. There were complimentary eggs, bacon, scones and cream, and fresh flowers when we arrived. Cannot fault our holiday at all - 10 out of 10!!

Very peaceful with great views across the countryside. The accommodation was very well decorated and warm. The welcome gift of tea, coffee, milk and flowers was a nice touch. Central to most of the sites around Devon and surrounding counties. I would certainly recommend it to others.

Being completely cut off from the world! The owners were just lovely and it was great having other cottages near but far enough away. We enjoyed the place, people and scenery immensely!

This property lived up to every expectation. We had not used Sykes Cottages before, but we were not disappointed. The view was just spectacular, accommodation bright and clean, every mod con. in the kitchen and the cottage ideal for my disabled daughter and elderly mother. The welcome pack of eggs, bacon, milk, scones, jam, cream and fresh flowers from the owners was a lovely touch.

The cottage was lovely, you can tell they put a lot of thought into the property. The owners left fresh eggs from their farm, along with bacon with juice in the fridge. There was a book of suggestions from others who had stayed there. We absolutely loved it, and would highly recommend to others.

It was a great experience for all the family to stay on a farm. The view was great and the kids had two fields to run around in! We were very well looked after. Ideal for city drones needing to get away from it all. Recommended!
