Walton Cottage description

Holiday home
Walton Cottage is a wonderful, detached cottage set in an elevated position in the village of Winster, in the Peak District National Park. The cottage can sleep four people in a double and twin room, and a family bathroom. Prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen, plan your day's escapades at the dining room table, and relax by the warmth of the woodburning stove in the cosy sitting room. Outside, there is a pretty garden with furniture and off road parking for one car, with additional roadside parking available 150 yards from the cottage, and in free car parks in the village. Set in such a beautiful village, in a glorious location, Walton Cottage is the perfect, year-round retreat for everyone to enjoy!

Area
With an impressive 17th century market house at its centre, the conservation village of Winster is situated within the Peak District National Park. This extremely pretty location is mostly composed of three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank boasting imposing 18th Century farm houses, nearly all of which are at least three storeys tall. Off the main street visitors can find the slightly less grand though equally fascinating 'ginnels', or alleyways. The village still holds a number of traditional events throughout the year, such as a pancake race every Shrove Tuesday and the annual Wakes festivities which take place in June, as well as events hosted by the local Morris dancers. The village boasts plenty of essential amenities too - a post office/gift shop, a well stocked grocer's shop and two pubs both serving food and local traditional beers.

The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

We loved the village of Winster, it was so friendly and so close to all the other villages, so there was not loads of driving. The cottage is an absolute delight - a real home from home. The garden is so pretty with views in every direction. The owners can be very proud of Walton Cottage.

Stayed here with a couple of friends. Cottage is perfectly situated, close to great pub and village shop, with terrific views from the terrace in the back garden. Cottage itself is really cosy and comfortable, especially with the real fireplace and had everything we needed for a short-break.

We hired this cottage for a long weekend of cycling in the Peak Park and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Great cottage which is fantastically appointed and leaves nothing required but to relax and enjoy the real fire (logs provided ) and comfortable beds. The village is picture postcard stuff and the helpful owners even helped unpack and book our dinner in the village pub! Top marks all round..... We have booked again for May 2015
