St. Mullins on the borders of Counties Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford. It is 15 minutes drive to the Town of New Ross, Co. Wexford - ancestral home of J.F. Kennedy and Dunbrody Famine Ship. The cities of Kilkenny and Waterford are approximately 40 minutes drive away as are the major towns of Carlow, Enniscorthy and Wexford. The ferry port at Rosslare Harbour being approximately 50 minutes drive from the property. The property has the very best location for South East touring!
The property is nestled on a hill with scenic views of the mountain ranges of Mount Leinster, Mount Brandon and the Blackstairs. Stepping outside onto the decking area one can savour the beauty of St. Mullins as you gaze down into valley and watch the Barrow river floating slothfully by and listen to the water as it cascades over the weir further upstream. In the Autumn the view is spectacular as the tree foliage changes to yellow, orange and red carpeting the valley and Mt. Brandon in a warm cloak. Just a short stroll downhill from the cottage, turn left at the cemetery, you can avail of a nice tea/coffee at Mullichain Cafe on the quayside before enjoying a leisurely river walk along the Sli na Slainte route to the medieval town of Graiguenamanagh- only 6km.
The surrounding area of St. Mullins is steeped in history as the acquisition of its name comes from St. Moling, a 7th century cleric who built a monastery there and as story has it he himself dug a mile long watercourse with his own hands to power his mill, recorded in documents as taking 7 years to complete.
This is also an ideal location for those wishing to go fishing or just enjoy the nice relaxing atmosphere of your surroundings For a pleasant and relaxing drink at night times you can take a short walk to the nearby Blanchfield's pub.
