Weirside Cottage Coastal Cottage description

Holiday home
Weirside Cottage is a detached cottage set in the village of Brighstone on the Isle of Wight. The cottage sleeps four people in one double bedroom, one twin and a family bathroom. Also in the cottage are a fitted kitchen, a dining room and a sitting room. Outside is off road parking and a lawned garden with outdoor furniture and a bridge over the brook. Just over a mile from the beach, Weirside Cottage is a luxurious cottage in beautiful countryside.

The picturesque village of Brighstone is situated to the south west of the Isle of Wight and is well known for its pretty terrace of chalk cottages, all with neatly trimmed thatched roofs. Served by a local shop, post office, tea-room and a pub, the village has everything a visitor could possibly need during their stay. The local museum provides a fascinating insight into the town's heritage and tells the story of when smuggling was once a flourishing occupation. The sea itself is less than a mile away, and with beaches at Brighstone and Compton Bays, the region is full of water sport opportunities whilst the nearby coastal path provides access to the scenic cliff-top gardens at Blackgang Chine.

The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker's paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.

The very pretty cottage made the holiday for us. It was very comfortable and beautifully furnished. Staying in the village of Brighstone was a real treat with the sea nearby and the view to the downs just across the road-fantastic!

Set in a picturesque village, Weirside Cottage has all you would need to have a comfortable home away from home. It is in a great location for local amenities and to explore the rest of the island. We were very pleased with our whole stay and will definitely be back again.

All of the positive comments already said about this property are genuinely a true reflection of what this accommodation has to offer. I have since described it to friends and family back home as like being given the keys to someone's pride and joy second home. Undoubtedly, Weirside Cottage has to be the most beautiful, clean and comfortable holiday property that my wife and I have ever stayed in during the past 30+ years. Located in the pleasant village of Brighstone; Weirside Cottage is within easy walking distance of the Coastal Path offering a choice of East and West directions on the South West coast of the Isle of Wight. The village of Brighstone offers a good selection of local amenities including a local bus service and is ideally located to access the well known Tennyson Trail which offers fabulous walks and cycle rides (mountain biking) with stunning views on a clear day across the Island and both coastlines. A fabulous choice of circular and linear country/coastal path walks are available with an abundance of wildlife to be enjoyed from the village of Brighstone returning via local bus service if desired. For the keen walker(s) I can recommend travelling from the bus stop located a few metres from Weirside Cottage to Totland, then a return walk via The Needles (avoiding the cliff chair lift from the beach at the extortionate price of ?6 per couple for no more than a 200 metres travel distance!!!) to Freshwater Bay and Brighstone via the Tennyson Trail (approximately 12.5 miles). Yarmouth is a pleasant coastal town/port and makes a pleasant cycle ride via 90% off road tracks from the village of Brighstone or travel by road to Freshwater Bay Golf Club entrance (avoiding a steep cliff road); then a pleasant cycle ride to Yarmouth (approximately 17 miles return or 5 miles return respectively). In summary: Excellent accommodation, a great location, fabulous walking/cycling country with an abundance of wildlife to be enjoyed. We shall return!!!!!

We loved Weirside Cottage's location, size and high standard of furniture. The garden with the stream running through and the patio area were excellent and such a sun trap.

The cottage was beautifully decorated and equipped for a week away. Brighstone is a very good base to explore the west and south of the island, and the cottage was just what we needed. The garden and patio are lovely to relax in after a days walk, and despite being next to a road there was enough space around us to feel that we could unwind and enjoy ourselves.

The cottage was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable with a lovely patio and garden. The laundry room was really cute and made ironing an enjoyable task rather than a chore.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting, it was well equipped and comfortable. There was a pub, restaurant, and a surprisingly well-stocked village store within walking distance so you need for nothing. A comfortable stroll to the shore and the Coastal Walk, or jump into the car and reach anywhere on the island within about 30 minutes.

Weirside Cottage was like a home from home, we settled in immediately and enjoyed the peacefulness of the property. Brighstone is a lovely village and has got all the amenities you need for your holiday. The weather was good and we were able to visit many attractions on the Isle of Wight.

Weirside Cottage was great for our break, it was well equipped and had everything that we needed. The photos don't actually do it justice, it's nicer in reality. The village of Brighstone is nicely positioned 5 minutes from the coast road and only 10 minutes from Freshwater and great walks along the coast. Overall, very pleased with the cottage.

A well equipped cosy cottage within reasonable distance of all attractions.

A very pleasant, well presented Cottage with lots of character in every room. Sun trap of a patio and a big garden to the rear, ideal for children as long as they are supervised. The sound of a babbling brook with the occasional eel to keep you fascinated is another attraction. A rural setting in a pleasant village, with a local pub selling fine food and beverages, a good restaurant for good freshly cooked fish and chips and the village boasts two very well stocked village shops. Would thoroughly recommend the Cottage if you want a rural retreat from the stress of town life.

Weirside Cottage is situated in one of the prettiest villages in the Isle of Wight. It was well situated for sightseeing and has a lovely local shop. The patio was cosy and secluded and a real sun trap. The cottage itself is full of character, clean and well decorated.

A very comfortable stay in such a pretty cottage. The village was quiet, but with a local store & a good pub, provided all we needed.
September 2014
Weirside Cottage is set in a beautiful location, it is very close to the local village shops and post office. The property is extremely clean and modern yet retains its old charismatic charm. There is good WiFi and the use of a landline telephone. The only negative is that the farm tractors do vibrate the property when they are passing on the road, but there is very little that could be done to improve this. We would recommend this property to family and friends.
