Wheatcroft Cottage description

Perfectly located in the quiet village of Carperby right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Wheatcroft Cottage is the ideal rural retreat. Next door to the village inn, Wheatcroft Cottage is a spacious, terraced property with ample room for couples or small families. On the ground floor there is a large living room, which is comfortable, cosy and welcoming with a wood burner as well as views across to Penhill and beyond. The kitchen is well-equipped and fitted with contemporary appliances and there is also a large conservatory area with dining table and chairs that look out to the small elevated patio. On the first floor guests will find a very spacious kingsize bedroom and plenty of original features and even more superb views across the Dales.

The popular village of Carperby is on the sunny, south-facing slopes of Wensleydale and offers fine views across some of the most unspoilt countryside that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Famous for its James Herriot connection, Carperby is set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is nestled between the fabulous Aysgarth Falls and historic Castle Bolton. A brilliant location for guests who enjoy walking and cycling there are many public footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways that lead right from the front door through Wensleydale, Swaledale, Wharfedale and beyond. A walk to the nearby Aysgarth Falls offers some breath taking sights and scenery.

The popular market town of Leyburn can be located within an easy 7-mile drive and offers guests plenty of attractions including a chocolate factory, tea shops, cafes and The Forbidden Corner visitor attraction. Numerous other popular towns include Hawes, Bedale, Richmond, Barnard Castle and Ripon which offer various farmer’s markets, afternoon teas and good old fashioned home cooked meals at one of the many top quality pubs and restaurants. The popular horse riding town of Middleham is also just a short drive away and is the perfect location for guests who love all things equestrian as the thoroughbred horses that are stabled there can often been seen on their daily walks through the area.

A little further afield but still within an hour and a half drive guests will be able to take a day trip to the historic cathedral cities of Durham and York as well as the bustling market towns of Skipton and Harrogate. Shop 2 miles, village inn and restaurant 50 yards.
