Everything that we needed for the 11 guests was there, actually we all had more than we needed. The property is beautifully situated with wonderful views out of the bedroom windows. All the rooms are well appointed and tastefully furnished with a great mix of old fashioned style and modern practicality. There is more than enough cutlery, crockery and cookware. The beds were all good and the bathrooms well equipped. The garden was beautiful and very well kept. In short, we would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to accommodate a larger group of guests.

I am not sure what rating this house is, but unless it's 5 Star it is not rated high enough! I very much enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and beautiful house, and it was so so so clean. Far exceeded my expectations. It was hard to drag myself away!

It is in a great location with lots of interesting places nearby to visit. (don't know what the Tourist Board Star Grade was but am sure this property exceeded the criteria) All our party loved it!

The house has old fashioned charm and grandeur but with all the mod cons you need. The welcome from the owners was lovely and warm. The rooms are large and wonderful, the location is beautiful with fabulous views. The bedding was soft cotton and ample towels were provided. There were lovely touches like individual soaps, coffee and tea and a home baked cake. The garden was lovely for our 3 year old granddaughter to play in. Great facilities for our Jack Russell too. There is plenty of parking space. It was the perfect place for a family gathering for a special birthday celebration. We absolutely loved it!

February 2014
Every single thing was excellent. Could not have wished for anything better to suit our particular family gathering. Our sixteen month old twin grandchildren were very happy with the toys and being able to travel to the kitchen from the playroom/games room with their new friends, the bug pushalongs and car. Our daughter needed to do some work, so the dining room was a quiet haven and the rest of us just had fun.

Whitegate Cottage was a beautiful place to stay. The out reaching views whilst enjoying the peaceful garden were spectacular. The cottage had everything and more that we could ever wish for. The furniture in the house matched the period of the property and we enjoyed admiring many beautiful pieces. The cottage was plenty big enough to cater for all eleven of us and we never felt like we were under each others feet. A wonderful time was had by all. I was very sad to leave and cannot wait to return to this beautiful home again. Thank you.

October 2013
An ideal house for a family gathering, particularly liked the spacious dining room which was perfect for seating everyone. Beautiful decor and furnishings. Stunning garden!
May 2015
A really spacious & well maintained house, with a beautiful garden. Unfortunately the midges gatecrashed & came to share our Pimms & cream tea! Unwelcome guests, so go prepared if visiting in 'midge season'! The road was fairly quiet evenings & overnight, but busy during weekdays. So there is a degree of road noise to be heard, if outside in the garden. The garden gives fantastic views over the valley & is very well maintained. Overall, a fantastic place to stay & we'd love to return.

April 2014
We stayed at Whitegate for a week for a family Birthday at Easter time. We were very lucky with the weather which really helped make our week but the house helped a lot too. The house is very large and packed with character and spectacular views. We had 3 young children with us 3, 2 and 15 months so most of my review is based around good and bad points for kids of that age. Good - The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with plenty of kids plates etc and a hand blender should anything need blending for babies. The linen in the whole house was lovely and despite taking our own travel cot (you never know quite what you are going to get!) we didn't need to put it up. The toys in the house were great for our aged kids but probably ok for slightly older too. There is a lovely playhouse in the garden which we made lots of use off. Bad - No stair gates so you need to keep a close eye. The garden layout (while beautiful) means you can't leave little ones to run around, there are steps and steep drops. Main bad point was that the slide/swing set had a large split in the canopy meaning that if the children climbed the steps for the slide they would have fallen straight through to the ground. This is dangerous and needs to be fixed! luckily we spotted this before the kids went on and we spent the week lifting them to the top of the slide so they could go down. The other drawback to the house with small children is the steps you need to go up and down to get from the car parking area to the house, not a problem really but I wouldn't fancy it in the rain. On the whole we had a lovely time staying in this house. We visited the Newbridge play farm/barn and Hereford leisure pool both of which I'd thoroughly recommend for kids. Also did the Tues night pub quiz at the moon in Mordiford which is well worth a visit. The location is perfect for exploring Herefordshire and the house itself is fabulous.
March 2014
We had a wonderful weekend here with all the family, including young children and a baby. The house was superb, in a beautiful setting with great views and fantastically well equipped. The linen and towels were of great quality and the beds were really comfortable. The house sits about a mile outside the village but you can easily follow a footpath along the field edge into Fownhope where you will find a shop and two lovely pub restaurants. The kids loved the games room and the garden to play in and the kennel for the dog was a great addition! We would definitely go back.

I celebrated my 60th Birthday here with 9 members of my family and friends visited throughout the week end. We will re-book this and would like to stay longer for the next visit, the views are breathtaking and if you have children they are well catered for with ample toys both inside and outside the house. Many thanks for allowing us the pleasure of using your home must go to the owner, a lovely lady.

Can't say enough good things about this property. Our stay has been the best holiday ever. Stunning, spacious rooms, the best fitted out kitchen we've ever experienced. All the lovely little things supplied by our hosts have really made it (especially the home baked chocolate cake on our arrival). The play room is perfect for the children while the grown ups can sit in comfort in front of the roaring log fire. Great location with fabulous panoramic views. I would highly recommend a family holiday here in any season. Dogs well taken care of too with dog run and fabulous garden. Simply the best holiday house.
