Winnie Cottage description

Hidden away in the quiet hamlet of High Mickley yet within only a few miles of many popular tourist towns and villages, Winnie Cottage is the perfect location for guests wanting to relax and enjoy the top quality surroundings of the accommodation and to really explore the local area. An exceptional property that is spacious and elegant and commands incredible views of the Tyne Valley, Winnie Cottage really is a hidden gem. Renovated throughout and finished to the highest of standards, Winnie Cottage offers top quality fixtures and fittings within a modern setting yet still manages to retain all of its original character and charm. On the ground floor, guests will find an open-plan sun room with floor to ceiling windows, vaulted ceiling and breath taking views over the garden. The bi-fold doors open out on to a large decking area and then lead even further along onto a super outdoor seating area, and then again onto a fabulous hidden area with a satellite TV and sound system, as well as an electric two person sauna with CD/radio. There is a cosy living room with vaulted ceiling, solid oak floor, leather sofas and a large French designer wood-burning stove, as well as more modern touches including a 43 inch Bang and Olufsen TV. Every aspect of Winnie Cottage has been lovingly renovated and the attention to detail is super, with all rooms apart from the sun room having the benefit of satellite TV. The fabulous kitchen takes up the whole of the lower ground floor and has been designed with a light well to allow the natural light to flow through. The large, enclosed private garden has outdoor seating for 10 people and is ideal for families wishing to dine alfresco using the feature barbecue. With its two fire pits keeping guests warm, this really is the perfect spot to enjoy watching a stunning sunset or star gazing into the clear night sky. An award-winning country restaurant is only 1½ miles away in Hedley-on-the-Hill and guests will also be able to find shops and restaurants only 2 miles away in the town of Prudhoe, as well as picturesque river walks throughout the area. There are also many more riverside walks in the nearby village of Wylam, which is famous for being the birthplace of George Stephenson, one of the early railway pioneers. High Mickley is also situated just a short drive away from the pretty village of Corbridge which lies only 8 miles west of the cottage and offers quaint tea rooms and boutique shops, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a riverside walk or top quality meal in one of the many pubs and restaurants. The historic market town of Hexham lies just 11 miles away and offers a theatre, swimming pool, leisure centre, race course and golf course, as well as many historic attractions including Hexham Old Gaol and Hexham Abbey, making this the perfect destination for guests of all ages. Tanfield Steam Railway will also appeal to families of all ages and lies just 10 miles away as well as bustling Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gatehead, 20 minutes away, which offers The Metro Centre, The Sage, The Centre for Life and the Millennium Bridge as well as an abundance of high street shops and designer boutiques.
