Ymwlch Bach Farmhouse Coastal Cottage description

Holiday home
This comfortable, homely property is half of a traditional Victorian farmhouse. The house has been sympathetically converted to provide cosy and fully self-contained holiday accommodation on a 96-acre working farm only three miles from Criccieth. Well equipped throughout and providing a welcoming mix of antique furnishings and up to the moment modern convenience, this three-bedroom house is beautifully decorated throughout. A perfect location for those wanting to explore the breathtaking mountain countryside that surrounds this idyllic location.

Area
Often described as the ‘Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia', Criccieth is a tranquil and delightful seaside town just five miles from Porthmadog. The town is dominated by a 13th Century castle that towers over the settlement on a rocky outcrop. From the castle there are superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. The area is a haven for water sports enthusiasts with two pristine beaches and walkers and hikers have the magnificence of the Snowdonia National Park to explore with a myriad of footpaths and walks throughout the region. The town itself is well served with restaurants, pubs, shops and tea-rooms, giving visitors an opportunity to sample the famous Cadwalader's Ice Cream. In the immediate vicinity is a wealth of attractions including Portmeirion's Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Lleyn Peninsula.

Region
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

The location is perfect for travelling in around Snowdonia, and the property is in a safe quiet area. The property had all the mod cons yet still retained the natural beauty of an old farmhouse. Would recommend a stay and are looking to return.

We had a lovely stay at Ymwlch Bach. We enjoyed the wonderful views and it was very easy to get to both Criccieth and Porthmadog. Our children particularly enjoyed running around in the garden and seeing all of the sheep in the surrounding fields.

The holiday was booked very last minute but the owner still had the property clean and ready with a roaring log fire waiting on our arrival. The property was ideally located to visit Criccith, Portmadog and Harlech.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. She left us to ourselves even though we were staying in the same house so we did not feel we were intruding which was great. The property had fantastic views and in a great location for the surrounding attractions. We had a great time and would return.

We had a lovely week here with our two small children. Lovely views in all directions, a little garden for the kids to run around in, enough space inside for us, and very easy to get down to the coast at Criccieth or Porthmadog, or into Snowdonia. I don't think I would recommend it for more than 4 adults though - the sitting room and one small bathroom would be a real squeeze for that many.

The owner was awaiting our arrival, fire was on. Our stay was very good. We, as a family, were looking forward to a different experience, which we experienced. I would definitely visit again in would love to live in the same property.

I booked to go with my 3 grand children ages 17,15 & 9. It is a lovely peaceful location & safe, we had a fun packed week visiting Snowden, Zip Wire, Bounce Below, Portmeirion, Black Rock Sands, Porthmadoc, Caernavon, Llanfair P.G, & Beaumaris. The children are already planning a return trip and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The location is perfect as it is within driving distance of most if not all of the main Snowdonia attractions. The owner Mrs Watkins is a perfect host and you wouldn't have known she was next door, but on hand for advice when needed, also bakes a lovely Bara Brith which was very welcome. Would recommend a stay and would definetly return.

We had a really nice stay here. The landlady - who lives in the adjoining but completely separate part of the house - had baked us a cake on arrival. The views are tremendous and the accommodation offers a great base for exploring North Wales.
