From 23 Laigh Isle it is easy to enjoy good coastal walking, visit Wigtown's bookshops or head into the woods and forests of this beautiful area.

Known as the Isle of Whithorn, this village is actually not an island, but a small village on the Scottish coast in Dumfries and Galloway. Amenities in the village include two pubs/hotels, a Post Office/general store, and a harbour. There is so much history in this area, from Iron Age forts to 11th century churches, and standing stones to castles built by Robert The Bruce. The 'book town' of Scotland, Wigtown, is a few miles away from the village, and the rest of lovely Dumfries and Galloway is on the doorstep.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Exactly as described in brochure. Lovely spot for a quiet restful break.

October 2013
It was peaceful and private, yet there were people around who were happy to chat should we wish to. Overall it was a lovely holiday that helped us relax, and recharge our batteries for the coming winter. I wish I was still there, could have managed a fortnight. The cottage was very comfortable and warm.
Mr Hewitson

The quietness of the Laigh Isle is perfect and number 23 is less than 50 yards to the sea, yet 2 minutes walk and you are at the harbour side and pub. Great walks, long and short. Just perfect.

The most relaxing holiday I have had. You stepped outside and there was the sea. The cottage was lovely, no problems.

The situation of the property was even better than expected from the description. It was a delight to open the doors and sit on the patio facing the sea.

The cottage was a home from home, it surpassed all expectations. The locals were really friendly, made us very welcome and we have been invited back by numerous locals!

May 2013
The cottage had everything we needed and is cosy. The little patio is a good feature with a view of the sea and the white tower but unfortunately it was not warm enough while we were there to use it. Very close to the sea and an excellent pub, The Steam Packet Inn which serves very good meals and 5 real ales to Cask Marque Mark standard. You can cut through on to the main street from the bottom corner of the site so the harbour is really very close. The village is lovely and there is pretty scenery all round and the area has lots of interesting beaches, archaeology and gardens. There were lambs everywhere being very cute too! There are good shops in Whithorn (4 miles)and Wigtown to get groceries.

July 2012
A well laid out site. Quiet and not busy. The chalets were well spaced and not overlooked by neighbours. Gardens were well kept and flowers beautiful. A short walk to the harbour and sea.

February 2012
We were more than impressed with the property and have already recommended it to others. We hope to come back when time allows as we were very comfortable there and loved the area.
November 2014
The cottage was exactly as described. Went out of the door and we could see the sea and within one minutes walk you were there. A beautiful position and the few people we saw at this time of the year were very friendly. There is no signal for phone or computer but we found a spot just up the road that we could use both. I am not religious but the area is very tranqil as I believe it all started in this region

October 2013
chalet was everything as described, lovely view out to sea from the verandah, and couple of minutes walk to local pub which was really friendly [nice meals and real ale]. we had a few walks around the area, very attractive part of scotland. plenty of interesting places to visit not too far by car. friendly owner called in to see if we were ok [hello diane], would recommend the area to anyone and may come back again next year!

January 2014
The cottage was very nice, everything we needed for the week, warm and comfortable, being so close to the sea was a bonus we hadn't expected and we were in a good place to travel round sight seeing, and then take a stroll before it got dark with the sea on one side, we could walk from the cottage and leave the car safe and sound.
August 2014
Very impressed with the property. A small problem with the t v was quickly solved by the lovely young lady who lived in the village. More than adequately equipped with every thing necessary. Handy for the pub on the harbour which served good beer and food. Great for walks with a dog and a good base for exploring further afield.
Mr McAuley

23 Laigh Isle cottage is an absolute delight; quiet, 1 minute from the shore, 5 minutes from the pub, and a fully equipped home from home. What more could you ask for?
December 2012
we have been going to Isle of Whitorn for over 30 yrs.It is lovely and peaceful, not good for families though as nothing much to do on the isle. The bungalow we stayed in was very well equiped, beds comfortable and nice and clean. The bungalow could do with a wooden garden seat outside the french window as there was a lovely view .Also new dining chairs ,as they were a bit on the wobbly side.
