Beautiful property with well kept gardens, house was very clear and tidy, all ready for us to come into. Shower in the en-suite was amazing. Great location for travelling to the local castles and forts.

The location of 9 The Green was superb, perfect for dogs and older people who cannot walk far. My mother who is in her 80s thought it was great that she could walk to the local pub and also visit the local farm shop. For me the walks from the door were exactly that, and my dogs had a great time. the property itself was lovely, the beds were probably the most comfortable I have ever used. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed, and the sunroom was a great addition

Fabulous cottage, the landlady was very accommodating and friendly. Loved the historic setting and the farm/coffee shop was excellent. Loved the Roman fort, and the fact it was free was an added bonus.

This is a lovely cottage in a very nice area, with dog walks from the door. Thought has gone into making the cottage very comfortable, with very tasteful furnishings and well-equipped kitchens and bathrooms. The front garden is particularly pretty, with the addition of a well-stocked bird table meaning that there was an abundance of wildlife, including a rabbit one morning. The cottage is not far from the Durham Dales and the village has two good pubs and a shop.

A super cottage in a fabulous central location for exploring the Dales. The gardens were ideal for our two little dogs, nice and enclosed. We will definitely be going back again next year.

This is one of the best holidays we have had in England. We stayed here in September 2014 along with our two dogs-the cottage is welcoming, superbly furnished and in a perfect location. We could not find fault with it at all, every little detail had been catered for. There are some fabulous walks to be found locally, we also spent a very enjoyable day at the sea side in Saltburn, which was an easy drive away.Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing break with a touch of luxury, and we most certainly will be returning--didn't want to leave!

The cottage was presented in a wonderful way; it was cosy, luxurious and very welcoming. There was plenty of room to sit and relax in private at the rear whilst the front garden provided a retreat during the evening and for a late night drink. The finish of the fixtures and fittings throughout was of the highest standard, it far exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to family and friends, and would book again.

The cottage was well appointed, very cosy and well equipped. A place we are likely to return to in the future.

Wonderful feeling when you walk through the door, furnishings to die for. Great having a conservatory. Both wee westies loved it. Lovely English green, a quiet village, just whats need for a relaxing weeks holiday. A 2 minute walk to get a newspaper, fresh eggs. One pub being renovated when we were there, and right in village, pub over bridge ok. Because of westies we use cottages at least 2 per year. In 15 years I'd say it was the best one, although not necessary the best village. We laughed as next door was a no longer used chapel, hubby is a minister!!!!!. Definately would return.

We travel in the uk 4 times per year with our dogs. This cottage was a home away from home with all the facilities we require. Locally the walks and Roman history is amazing. The fox hole is a great eaterie and the organic farm is a great place to stock up on quality organic provisions. We loved our visit and the cottage offered us a safe, cozy haven from the winters storms. It offered good value money and a good place to forge new memories
