Aberfoyle Apartment Family Cottage description

Holiday home
Aberfoyle Apartment is a holiday home that is situated on the top floor of a former Victorian hotel in the village of Aberfoyle, within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. All the accommodation is on the second floor and comprises two double bedrooms and a family bathroom and can sleep a maximum of four people. The rest of the property is made up of a fitted kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with an electric fire. Outside the cottage is off road parking for two cars on a first come, first served basis. With the whole of the Trossachs to explore, Aberfoyle Apartment is an ideal base for touring this part of Scotland.

The village of Aberfoyle lies within The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The area around the Trossachs is where Highland meets Lowland, and the surrounding hills are friendlier than the Highlands further north. Aberfoyle itself offers a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is situated just a 20 minute drive from the shores of Loch Lomond. Within The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park there are a huge variety of attractions; enjoy a gentle stroll through the Balloch Castle Country Park or the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, which will guide you past lochside villages and sandy bays, or, for the more adventurous, the mountains offer challenging walks and climbs.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Electric storage heating and wall-mounted convector heaters with electric fire. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi. Power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars on a first come, first served basis, additional free parking in village. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop, pub, post office, bank and zip wire tree top adventure course are all a few minutes' walk away. Note: Access to accommodation is via an internal staircase. There is a coombed ceiling in one of the bedrooms and the sitting room. Note: Due to the coombed ceilings, the accommodation will be compact when fully occupied.

The owner was very welcoming and showed us all that needed to be known for our stay. We will return to the apartment in the future.

A friendly and welcoming owner which was a lovely start to a fab' holiday. The property was much better than it looked on the internet; a very positive surprise. It had everything we needed, and felt like a 2nd home. We hope to revisit next year.

We were given a warm welcome by the owner, who had just cleaned the apartment to a high standard. The apartment is very conveniently located near the main street in Aberfoyle. It was possible to do some lovely walks right from the door, and some superb hill walks were only a short drive away. There is lots of storage space, so we were able to put all our things away and keep it tidy. The owner had provided an impressive amount of literature and tourist information, and we made good use of it.

The village of Aberfoyle has a good, central positioning for seeing this part of Scotland, making trips and walking. Very beautiful surroundings. The Apartment is cosy and very well equipped. Even for four (three of them tall) people, there was enough space. The owner is a very, very nice lady who cares for her guests.

Good location and base for touring.

I a very well equipped cottage in a good location for both local amenities and for travel. We used aberfoyle as a base to explore large parts of Scotland and for some rambling. It was perfect for our needs. Only note of caution is that access is via 2 flights of stairs so anyone not able for this best to avoid.

I loved the location right in the centre of the Trossachs, with all the trails and the lochs, the beauty is majestic and simply stunning. The chance to have this at the doorstep made our holiday magical! The apartment was lovely, with an obvious delicate and thoughtful touch that made it warm, welcoming and practical at the same time. There is everything you need and more; in particular there was a good number of well chosen informative, useful books about the region and its history. We really had a sweet time, thank you!

Aberfoyle Apt was very comfortable, with attractive furnishings and terrific views. The owner was helpful and friendly. We were able to go on some wonderful hikes in the nearby Queen forest and other local trails, making the Apt a great location for local activities. Also it was a quiet apt so even with jet lag, we were able to get good rest. Had a wonderful stay there, and the excellence of Aberfoyle Apt greatly enhanced our enjoyment.

The location of this apartment is fantastic. You have everything you need, co-op, 2 pubs, garden centre, cafe, chip shop. 1 hr drive to Edinburgh. Wonderful walks and wonderful drives. The accommodation is very clean and plenty of room for 4 adults. The owners kindly left us a few items in the fridge and kitchen cupboards. Plenty of dvds and books to use. Great little book showing wonderful walks. Would definately book to go again.

The apartment had everything we needed during our energetic week of walking, cycling and exploring the Trossachs: reclining armchairs for putting our feet up at the end of the day were the icing on the cake. The Co-op was open very day till 11 so catering was easy, and the apartment was well equipped for cooking. We also had two delicious dinners at the Forth Inn, just across the road. I did bump my head on the sloping ceiling a couple of times, but the owner's description was very clear and we knew to expect it. Lots of helpful information on walks and tourist attractions in the area, as well as reference books in Scottish history, flora and birds, were provided too. We were sorry to leave.
