Barn Cottage description

Holiday home
Barn Cottage is a very welcoming semi-detached barn conversion, in the village of Hinderwell. There is a double, a twin and a single bedroom, plus a family bathroom on the first floor. Downstairs is a kitchen, a sitting room with a dining area and a large conservatory with furniture and a door to the rear patio. There is off road parking outside the cottage. Barn Cottage is close to the village amenities, and makes a great family base for exploring the moors and coast.

Hinderwell is a small, lively village close to the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay. Hinderwell was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Hildrewell, a derivation of Hilda's Well, named for the Abbess of Whitby who was travelling through the parish in a drought and was asked to intercede. Her prayers were answered when a spring appeared near the sight of the present Parish Church, and this spring has continued to flow from the hillside to this day. The village is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful countryside, and walks, cycle ways, gliding, horse riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area. Whitby is seven miles away and the town has a rich and varied heritage waiting to be discovered. This is a fabulous holiday base.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

This cottage was the best we have ever stayed in over many decades of holidaying in the UK.

The cottage was beyond expectations. This cottage was like a home from home and my group felt comfortable. There was nothing we believe that could be improved upon. The owners were very welcoming and always ready to give advice and made us feel like old friends. Lastly the location was excellent for exploring the area.

Barn Cottage was a perfect place to spend our Christmas or any holiday. The Cottage is very well placed in the village for shops and a choice of two local pubs. We had everything that we could need in the cottage, and the owner made us most welcome and made our Christmas feel very special to our party of 4. We had a great holiday and we can recommend Barn Cottage, we hope to go back again.

Barn Cottage is a superb cottage, probably the best we have stayed in very well equipped throughout but the kitchen was superbly equipped. The enclosed rear garden was great for the dog and the conservatory was great to sit in with a glass of wine in the evening watching the sun set. All furnishings and equipment was of the highest quality and nothing skimped on. We would gladly recommend this to anyone.

Superb location and property, the best cottage we have stayed in. It was superb accommodation, very clean with lots of accessories and information supplied within the property. The village is idyllic and there is an excellent public house one minute away from the property.

Barn Cottage was beautifully presented with lots of welcoming touches. The location is fantastic with places to visit within walking distance and Whitby just half an hours drive. Hinderwell is a lovely village with a couple of pubs, post office, hair and beauty salon, chip shop and butchers. The owners of Barn Cottage were very friendly and welcoming. Fantastic holiday, beautiful part of the country, would love to return.

The cottage has everything you'd want including little items many cottages don't. Excellent price for what is provided, highly recommended. Would definitely stay again.

What a great find and great base to start our exploration of Yorkshire's North East coast. The owners have equipped the cottage beautifully and give you a great welcome from their own free range eggs to lovely tea and coffee selections so you immediately felt at home. Hinderwell itself is a great location with walks right from your doorstep and although we were well blown about by the wind it February it did not spoil our appreciation and enthusiasm for this beautiful coast - we will definitely return.

A superb cottage probably the best equipped we have ever stayed in furnished and equipped to the very highest standards far higher than normal for a holiday let. The enclosed garden was a real bonus for the dog and the conservatory great for sitting with a glass of wine as the sun sets. The village is well catered for with two pubs village shop and butchers all within 3 min walk both pubs welcoming and dog friendly. Local bus stop at end of lane with frequent service to Whitby. All in all a great stay I would highly recommend to all.
