Beck Cottage description

Holiday home
Beck Cottage is a detached cottage in the hamlet of Pennington near Ulverston. The cottage has a king-size double bedroom upstairs, while downstairs is a bathroom, and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside is a patio to the front, and off road parking for two cars. Beck Cottage is within walking distance of a pub with micro-brewery, and just a few miles away are the amenities of Ulverston, with the lovely coast and stunning National Park easily reached.

Situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, the scattered hamlet of Pennington is set in an area of gentle hills and unspoiled countryside. The start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths are close by, as are the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn - locally renowned for their fine ales and good food. Nearby Ulverston is an ancient market town, which still holds a streetmarket every Thursday and Saturday. Today, this settlement is best known as a "festival town", with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel. As a result, it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. Facilities there include a wide range of shops, pubs, and restaurants whilst all of the attractions of the National Park are within easy reach. Also close by is the Furness Coast, boasting sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Other attractions include the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

I Loved how quiet the location was, the size of the cottage, your own car parking space, and the people who owned the cottage were very friendly.

This was definitely the best holiday accommodation we have had! The proprietors were friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this property.

The Cottage was perfect for a couple, beautifully decorated and furnished. The wood burning stove was lovely on a wet and miserable night and even without that, the cottage was cosy thanks to good radiators. This was our first holiday rental as a couple and it has set a high standard for future breaks!

The cottage was warm and a haven to return to after a day on the hills. The log burner was well used and the kitchen was large and well equipped. Parking was right outside, and the location was handy for Barrow and access to Southern Lakes.

An awesome long weekend at the cottage. The place was immaculate, had all the things you would need and was a pleasure to stay in. We loved the fire which was a nice attribute to the cottage. WiFi was a bonus as there isn't really any mobile signal. All in all, a great weekend in the south/west lakes.

The cottage was well appointed, especially having a fire place which added ambience on cold nights. Hosts were great and very obliging, the area was great, only drawback is we did not have enough time to explore the area in depth, maybe next time.

The accommodation was of a very high standard and the location was very quiet. Good local pub only 5 minutes away. It was easy to get to lots of different places of interest, Ulverston is a very pretty little town and the ferry to Piel Island was quite an experience.

The whole experience staying at Beck Cottage was excellent, from the facilities offered within the cottage, to the information on things to do and visit in the area. We received a warm and friendly welcome on our arrival and throughout our stay from owners of the Cottage. We would definitely stay here again.

We've just returned from a week away at Beck Cottage near to Ulverston in the Lakes. It was a perfect getaway - and really felt like a home from home. The cottage was extremely well equipped and we couldn't fault anything. Millie who owns the cottage was a great host and made us feel at home. We had our 5 month old son with us - Millie went out of her way to make him feel at home, even buying a new high chair for him! We'd definitely recommend Beck Cottage to anyone. Ulverston is approx 30 mins south of Windermere - and there are plenty of activities nearby to keep you busy. Overall a great week away. 10/10!

We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners promised a good start to our holiday. The cottage was very well appointed, comfortable and soon felt like home. Beck Cottage is a good base to explore a lesser known part of Cumbria but with easy access to the lakes.
