Beech Lodge description

Holiday home
As one of four detached, Scandinavian style wooden lodges, this property is set in a quiet rural location just three and a half miles from Masham. Situated down a long country lane, the property is ideal for families and comes with a large lawned area for ball games and a wooden veranda that runs along the front of the property. With a wooden table and chairs, visitors can enjoy al fresco dining or simply sit back and relax in the sunshine. Inside the property, the décor is simple but extremely comfortable with pine furniture to match the style of the lodge.

Situated in the lower reaches of the pretty Wensleydale region alongside the River Ure is the historic little market town of Masham. Boasting a huge market square - where a Wednesday market has recently been joined by a popular Saturday market – this charming settlement is set within gently rolling farmland. The town itself provides a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs and has become best known as the home to the Black Sheep Brewery – a company which makes over eleven million pints of beer every year. Through the idyllic surrounding scenery, visitors can enjoy a variety of walks along the Ure or across the hills and visit the popular towns of Ripon and Harrogate – both of which are just a short drive away.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

We liked the fact that the cabin was quite remote yet easy to find and there were some lovely walks in the area for the dogs. The grounds of the cabins were kept well and looked very appealing on our arrival.

We enjoyed every minute of this holiday not having been to this area before. The area the lodges are set is pleasant and peaceful, with easy access to surrounding villages and attractions. The village of Masham is a lovely, small and friendly little place, we received a warm welcome from the locals. There were plenty of places to eat and drink. We enjoyed the walks to be had with our dogs then some fine food at the White Bear Pub. Had a really enjoyable and interesting experience at Theakston Brewery and had some tasty samples of the Brew!! Very much looking forward to visiting this area again.

December 2012
Beech Lodge had everything we needed for our first peaceful break in Yorkshire. Tucked away off the beaten track in its own little sun-trap - what we waw of it!!! Masham and district were perfect areas where we enjoyed driving up on to the moors. Not too much traffic therefore you had time to gaze around and take all in. Check out Beavers Masham Sausage Shop for the best in "local" butchery. Take time to visit the Wensleydale Creamery to see original Wensleydale being made and definitely try the tasting shop before you go for a snack or meal in their excellent restaurant and coffee shop. Oh! and the breweries were also a bit of a favourite!! Don't forget Beech Lodge is near Masham - pronounced Mazzum (as in jazz) Great Place and will be returning!
Mr Mrs Drummond
