After a busy day exploring, guests will be able to cosy up in front of the fabulous woodburner whilst enjoying a relaxing glass of wine. On the first floor there is a cosy and comfortable double bedroom that is packed with charming original features and is full of character with sloping ceilings and exposed beams.
With easy motorway links and road access, Bumble Cottage is perfect for a special occasion or a weekend getaway. Gatenby is a secluded village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire and is situated about 2 miles east of the A1 and close to the River Swale.
There is plenty to see, explore and enjoy in the local area including some fabulous local pubs and restaurants, which offer top quality food and drink all year long. Ideal for walkers and cyclists there are numerous established public footpaths that lead through the open fields surrounding the property and out across the unspoilt woodland and countryside of North Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Dales are only a short drive away and can be reached in around 30 minute’s by car. Perfect for exploring the magnificent splendour of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, guests will be able to walk and cycle for miles through unspoilt countryside, up hills and down dales. The dramatic Aysgarth Falls is certainly worth a visit, as is a walk up the Butter Tubs.
The popular North Yorkshire towns and villages of Bedale and Pickhill are 5 miles, Northallerton is 10 miles, Ripon is 13 miles, Leyburn and Middleham, are 15 miles, all easily accessible and offer many attractions and historic sights, including Middleham Castle, which was once home to Richard III, Leyburn Chocolate Factory, The Forbidden Corner and many more. There are numerous farmers markets selling local produce and arts and crafts. The historic market town of Richmond is 15 miles, and offers a weekly farmers market and is well-known for its many places to eat and drink in the town centre, making this another great destination for a day out. A little further afield, but still within an easy hour’s drive, guests will be able to visit Durham, Newcastle, Barnard Castle, York, Harrogate and the beautiful beaches of the Yorkshire Coast.
