Set in two acres of landscaped gardens with beautiful country views, Cherry Bank is a delightful, detached stone cottage which provides holiday accommodation in a peaceful and secluded setting. This superb, traditional cottage has been completely renovated by the owner, a local horticulturist. Approached via its own sweeping drive with flower beds and lawns, it nestles in the Sutherland countryside. The main living room with dining area is superbly presented, with deep comfortable sofas and plenty of space for up to six guests. The large kitchen is fully fitted, with integral appliances and a breakfast bar, and there is a double bedroom on the ground floor adjoining the main shower room. Open tread stairs in the main living room lead up to two further bedrooms, one with a large en-suite bathroom. All bedrooms are very attractively presented with colour co-ordinated soft furnishings. The gardens are a real delight, with lawns, flower beds, mature trees and colourful shrubs which surround the cottage and provide a haven for wildlife. A large decking area is ideal for al fresco dining or just sitting and enjoying the peace and tranquillity.
The cottage is set off a quiet lane, known as The Fairy Glen, and is just 5 minutes away from Migdale Loch, a lovely area to walk and explore on foot or by bike. There are numerous places to visit in the area and plenty of sporting and countryside pursuits, including fishing, mountain biking, hill-walking, sailing and kayaking. Golfing enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, with Royal Dornoch, Tain and Bonar Bridge all within a few minutes’ drive. The historic village of Dornoch is well worth a visit, with its beautiful 13th-century cathedral constructed of mellow sandstone, a variety of small and unusual shops and a superb, award-winning sandy beach, all just 10 minutes’ drive from Cherry Bank. Heading west for 4 miles is the village of Bonar Bridge, where there are restaurants, bars and the superb waters of the Kyle of Sutherland. There are some excellent mountain bike trails here, as well as salmon fishing, with permits available in season. Beach 8 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.
