This is our fourth time at this wonderful home from home. The hosts are lovely, the village is friendly and the location is stunning and wonderfully quiet. The cottage is full of character.
Mrs Walker
May 2016
The cottage was much more spacious than we had expected. It was lovely having the garden to sit in. There was lots of information about the local area which was helpful. It was all perfectly suited to our needs. We loved this cottage and its location. There was a lot to do in the area, both on fine and wet days.
Mr Wakeman

Chimney Cottage is by far the loveliest cottage we have stayed in; it was very dog friendly with a large, secure garden and the owners were very dog friendly too, their spaniel was a delight and very friendly! The cottage was very cosy and warm whilst feeling spacious too; it had everything you could possibly need including the hose outside for muddy paws! We felt so at home we didn't want to leave! The walks from the cottage were great and the local pub, two minutes walk away and dog friendly was a real treasure.
Mrs Bramwell

This was our second stay at Chimney Cottage. The cottage is lovely and cosy with a fabulous bathroom. There are beautiful walks from the cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage is very dog friendly. We found it easy to shut yourself away and relax for the duration of the holiday.

My wife and I had a fabulous holiday and staying at Chimney Cottage made it extra special. Lingen is a lovely quiet village and extremely well placed to allow you to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. There is great walking straight from the cottage door and in the wider area. The cottage itself was perfect; spotlessly clean, spacious, well equipped and extremely comfortable; it was a lovely home from home to return to each evening after a days exploring. We couldn't recommend it highly enough and hope to return in the future.
Mr Swift

July 2015
A beautiful, deceptively spacious, well equipped cottage. A home from home with everything you might need. A fantastic base to visit the many interesting places in the area. For a relaxed, carefree holiday we can definitely recommend Chimney Cottage.
Mrs Mcdermont
August 2015
Chimney Cottage was delightful, everything we needed was provided for a comfortable week's stay. We had a wonderful time exploring the local lanes and footpaths with our dog, the area was very tranquil. The garden was ideal - a good size for us to relax in and there was plenty of space for our dog to run around. The local pub, a minute's walk away, was friendly and the food was good. We would definitely stay here again.
Mr Leach
July 2015
We enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage. The owners were very helpful and not intrusive. It was ideal for our dog, we all enjoyed the walks and the scenery. We would like to come back again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend the property.

June 2015
Chimney Cottage is in a beautiful area with lovely local walking that's not too demanding! There is a lot to do within a 15 mile radius. It was an attractive, well appointed cottage that fits the 'chocolate box' ideal. It is fortunate enough to be just a few doors away from a lovely 'local' pub that does pub grub. It is adjacent to the owners property, but it is private and has its own secluded garden with good quality outdoor seating.
Mr Ward
April 2015
Had very friendly owners who were always available if required. Had an excellent shower and very comfortable beds. Everything that was needed was supplied. An absolute quality place to stay.
Mrs Green
June 2015
The owners really made an extra effort to make sure you had everything you would want and it was the cleanest cottage I have stayed in. The garden is secure and lovely, and the cottage was very well equipped. The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make it great. What a great place.
Mrs Don

March 2015
An excellent property in a lovely isolated environment. The cottage was full of character and had very good owners who were very helpful and unobtrusive.
Mr Hipperson
April 2015
We had an excellent holiday in this lovely old cottage. It was full of character and exactly as described. The facilities were very good, especially the large shower and bath, and the huge bed. The garden was fully enclosed and ideal for our small dog. The cottage is in a very pleasant small village and near to a nice pub. There are many walks direct from the door in the scenic countryside. Highly recommended!
March 2015
A lovely cottage, perfectly situated for exploring Offa's Dyke and the Wye Valley. A well equipped cottage which was very peaceful. There is a local pub serving good food and a friendly crowd to greet you. Great for either a weekend away or a week.
Mrs Wilson
March 2015
A lovely cosy comfortable cottage with pleasant helpful owners. In a good location for walking and exploring with a friendly local pub a few minutes walk.

Our second visit to Chimney Cottage. It is lovely and spacious for a one bedroom cottage. In a beautiful, unspoilt area of the country with many interesting places to visit.
Mrs Douglass
March 2015
Wow! The cottage was lovely, better than in the pictures. It was so very spacious with some lovely touches. The enclosed garden was very dog friendly, and our cocker spaniel loved it, so did we. The owners made us feel very welcome, and we feel that they have done everything to a high standard. For a 1 bedroom cottage it was very big, so was the bath. It was always warm and cosy, even on a dull afternoon. Don't have any doubts about booking this cottage as you will not be disappointed, and it was good value for the money.

October 2014
This is a lovely cottage, with a period feel but having all the necessary accoutrements which are part of modern living. The kitchen is well equipped for all self-catering requirements, the bathroom is spacious and well-appointed and the bedroom has either twin beds or when zipped together, an enormous double. The standard of cleanliness is high, and is a tribute to the owners.
Mrs Day

The Cottage was one of the best we have stayed in. The holiday was superb!

August 2014
Chimney Cottage is GENUINELY dog friendly and secure. The owners are very attentive but not intrusive. Wonderful friendly village in beautiful countryside. Surprisingly spacious for a 1 bed and very comfortable.
Mrs Downey
July 2014
Despite this cottage being attached to the owners own home, which might make some uncomfortable for whatever reason, the owners were delightful, very discrete, available when we needed them but kept themselves to themselves when we didn't, so if anyone was concerned, it wasn't an issue at all! The cottage and garden were superb, with nothing left to chance and we had everything we needed. We felt we had a real bargain for the quality of Chimney Cottage!
Mr Robins
May 2014
The very high standard of all aspects of Chimney Cottage including it's secluded location, grade II listed building, charming interior, delightful roomy kitchen, double bath and shower, plentiful hot water, immediate response from the radiators and every part of the cottage being spotlessly clean. We especially appreciated the warm welcome we received from the Owners.
Mr Mrs Steele
May 2014
This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in. The bedroom and living areas were spacious, the bathroom was excellent with a large bath and separate shower cubicle and the beds were comfortable. There is an excellent enclosed garden for the dog and hosepipe and towel to hand to clean up muddy paws. It is a beautiful unspoiled part of the country. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already rebooked for an Autumn break.
Mrs Maxted
May 2014
We have had a very relaxing few days based at Chimney Cottage. The owners have put in a lot of thought and effort with the decor and making the cottage a home from home.

May 2014
Chimney cottage is a lovely property situated in a quiet, peaceful village in the middle of good walking country, but not too far from other interesting places such as Ludlow. This accommodation for 2 people is the most spacious we have ever stayed in and everything has been carefully thought out; a real 'home from home'. A perfect choice.
Mr Pover
April 2014
This is our favourite 1 bedroom dog friendly cottage anywhere in UK. Very spacious cottage, with genuinely secure garden for the dogs. Very helpful, friendly owners, lovely friendly village, great pub and brilliant walks from doorstep. What more could anyone ask for?

The cottage was really beautiful, spacious and a home from home, with a lovely enclosed garden which was great for our little dog. The village is very picturesque with lovely walks and a lovely local pub with friendly staff. The owners are lovely, we would highly recommend this cottage.

A lovely old cottage that was more spacious than it had looked in the website photos. It was well equipped and well thought out. The facilities for my dog were good too!
Mrs Bramwell
November 2013
This is a beautiful spacious well designed cosy cottage. The owners have done a fantastic job in its decoration and fittings - the bathroom is wonderful and the cottage is the best we've stayed in. Walking from the area is fantastic and you don't need to go anywhere else by car if you don't want to once you've settled in with enough food and drink for the duration. The local pub is really welcoming and does good food. However the area as a whole has plenty to offer all interests. We felt so relaxed in the cottage and will definitely be returning.
Mr Sharp
October 2013
The cottage is charming and very comfortable. The bathroom is graced with a large bath, shower and heated towel rail, and is up to a good standard. In the bedroom, the twin beds when linked together make a large and luxurious double, which is extremely comfortable and very welcoming after a day spent exploring the wonderful countryside. We used the wood burner virtually every night, and enjoyed having the use of this source of heat. The kitchen was well appointed and the overall provision of utensils was very good. We would certainly recommend Chimney Cottage.
Mrs Montgomery
September 2013

August 2013
Quiet location, very rural, fantastic cottage, one of the best we have ever stayed in. Comfy bed, excellent bathroom, fabulous kitchen and a wood fire. Owners on site and very helpful when needed, but will leave you alone, unless you need them.

For a one-bedroom cottage, the property was very spacious. Given that this is the first letting year, the owners have hit the spot.
Mr Guy

March 2013
The cottage was lovely. There was a large lobby for your muddy boots and coats, a cosy yet spacious living area with a well kitted out kitchen. The upstairs had a lovely big bath, powerful hot shower.

July 2015
We had a great week's stay at this beautiful, clean, comfortable cottage. It was an ideal place to stay with our springer spaniel who loved the enclosed garden and the lovely walks we did. The local pub was only one minute's walk away and we experienced a warm welcome whenever we went there. The food was typical pub fare but it tasted fantastic especially the gammon and home made chicken pie. The owners were very helpful and not intrusive. The welcoming eggs, milk and sponge were much appreciated. We know everybody has different tastes and needs but we would not hesitate to recommend this property especially if you have a dog. Ours was welcomed more or less wherever we went although she is a rescue with some issues and can be nervous of strangers. The area was very quiet and we liked watching the sparrows and house martins that were nesting under the eaves.
July 2015
What more could a dog wish for? Great garden, great walks, great local pub, somewhere to rest my weary head and happy parents! Everything was perfect, from the relaxed, warm welcome from the cottage owners, to the privacy of the cottage, even though it was cheek 'n' jowl to their home. Everything had been laid on for our comfort and even though it is just a one bedroomed cottage, it is roomy and very well equipped. Lots and lots to see within 20 minutes drive of the village and really good walking on our doorstep, including that vital 'last thing at night' walk around the mote and bailey that was within yards of our door. Quick tip - the most wonderful farmers market on the first Saturday of the month in Presteigne!

Very tempting to write a poor review so there is more availability next time we want to book! However, we've already booked our next stay and a poor review would be very unfair on Robert & Trish and all of you who are yet to discover this amazing Gem. The accommodation was superb. Clean, tidy, well appointed and very spacious. Has only one bedroom but that is large & so is downstairs and the bathroom, not the poky accommodation that sometimes accompanies a one bed cottage. Plenty of room for us and our dog Neo. It truly is a lovely cottage, the owners are very helpful and always available for questions but not intrusive at all. The local pub and the locals are absolutely great and very friendly. We want to move there! The pub, the Royal George is about 100 yards away & is probably the best local in the whole area, with good pub grub, although many others are worth a visit. we spent days out in Ludlow (gorgeous) and the nearest town is Presteigne which is sweet. Cannot recommend highly enough. Absolutely no mobile phone signal but some, including my wife. regard that as a bonus! WiFi, supposedly slow but we had absolutely no problem. Interesting walks from the door step, beautiful countryside & a great pub & friendly locals.......who could wish for more?!!
September 2014
I will be honest, we booked this cottage on Sykes Cottages as it was the cheapest of all the cottages with 4 ticks that accepted dogs and how glad we did! The cottage was absolutely ideal, with a private garden for Flynn where we often had breakfast or lunch/dinner. There was a brilliant pub, The Royal George, literally a stone's throw from the cottage where you could have a very good meal and the locals were very friendly. There were some great walks right on the doorstep, which was a bonus since you don't always want to drive somewhere. As for the area, wow! We hadn't been to the Herefordshire/Powys border before but it is stunningly beautiful with fabulous towns and villages in abundance. Visit Hay on Wye, Ludlow and Hereford and many more places for great days out. The cottage is attached to the owners' cottage but don't let this prevent you from booking Chimney Cottage, Trish and Robert were really lovely people, always discrete but available if required. We had a fabulous 2 weeks with, thankfully, wonderful weather. Highly recommended! [Only downside, no washing machine but this was because we were the first to book a fortnight and we were offered the use of Trish & Robert's if we needed.]

A beautiful spacious cottage. Dog friendly with enclosed garden. Lovely walks and interesting towns and villages nearby. An unspoiled part of the country to enjoy and explore.
February 2014
We have just returned from a weeks stay at chimney cottage and what a beautiful place it is, we nearly didn't choose the cottage as it said it was attached to the owners home, however I am so glad we did once there it feels detached and neither the owners home or the cottage really impact on each other it's more like you are neighbours, there is a lovely self contained garden which was great for our 7 month old puppy, the owners have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and home from home as possible. There is a local pub 100yds away that does lovely food and welcomes dogs, the locals are very friendly too. It is a lovely village with lots of walks and lots of surrounding areas to visit, we would highly recommend this cottage for a get away from it all break

Twe particularly liked the relaxing environment and overall presentation Chimney Cottage. Can honestly say it was the best cottage that I have stayed at.
Ms Liston
August 2016
The cottage was very spacious for a 2/3 person property and was also very well equipped. Being part of a 16th century listed building, it was also full of character. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog as well as for enjoying a glass of wine after one of the numerous walks in the area. The surrounding countryside is very appealing, with rolling hills and quiet lanes. We enjoyed good walks from the cottage as well as on the Offa's Dyke path which is only a short drive away and has gates rather than stiles, making it easier going with the dog. If you enjoy walking and like to get off the beaten track then this is the place for you, especially if you have a dog.
