A very comfortable and welcoming cottage, very clean and homely. Ideally situated for getting to the Peak District attractions and stunning scenery! Friendly residents in the village and the community shop was not expensive. All in all a great holiday stay.

We liked the character and quaintness of Christmas Cottage. The bathroom was huge where as the lounge was compact which made for cosy nights in front of the fire. The kitchen had everything we needed. The village is quiet with two pubs both serving food, the staff in the pubs and the village store were all very friendly. There are plenty of nice walks in the area and with Matlock and Bakewell close by there are plenty of options for days out.

We liked the wood burning stove, the quietness of the village, the modern kitchen and large bath. We also liked the armchairs and the location of the village as it was easy to get to where we wanted to visit in the Peak District. The bed was very comfortable.

Really enjoyed the break at Christmas Cottage. The house is well equipped if you feel like cooking and in a great location for local walks and cycles nearby. The garden is a lovely sun trap in the afternoons and a really quiet and peaceful spot. Lots of helpful information is provided by the owners with notes and leaflets on local walks and places of interest. Would definitely recommend The Red Lion in Birchover. It's a stunning walk across the fields between Winster and Birchover, perfect for working up an appetite before dinner. Food is delicious and definitely the best local food on offer. Looking forward to our return to the cottage!

Christmas Cottage was lovely and cosy and has everything you need; comfortable bed, good-sized, well-equipped kitchen, large attractive bathroom with bath, shower and bidet, cosy sitting room with fire. Winster is a very pretty village, and the people are friendly. The local shop is great, as is the nearest local pub. We came without a car and found the local buses to be pretty good and the walks fantastic, such a beautiful area.

This is a very comfortable cottage in a great location. The bedrooms and bathroom are very spacious and the kitchen is well furnished and equipped. We were there during fine weather so the small outside courtyard was lovely. Winster is a lovely village with a shop and smashing pub. I would definitely recommend Christmas Cottage to my friends.

Lovely cottage perfect for a relaxing Christmas. Cute village with good village shop and pubs in walking distance.
April 2016
This is a lovely cottage in a lovely part of the country. The sitting room is cosy and the beds are super-comfortable with good quality linen. The kitchen is well-equipped but we couldn't find a cheese grater (probably not everyone's priority). My husband had fun with the gas cooker - he's used to electric- but had no problems. There is a huge bathroom with lots of fluffy towels (I don't know why there isn't a photo in the description). It being March we weren't able to sit out in the courtyard, alas but overall a lovely cottage for two. Parking is at a premium so don't expect to park at the door. The village has a super shop and post office where you can buy almost anything at reasonable prices.

Everything was top notch, granite surface in the kitchen, M S bedding, luxury duvet, luxury mattress, BOSE sound system. Old style furnishings which suited the style of cottage. Could not have asked for a better place to stay!

September 2012
The accomodation is more than adequate and every thing was catered for, lounge cosy and suitable for two with a separate dining room. The kitchen is nicely decorated and again every thing had been though of. Bedrooms upstairs made or good sleeping !!! Being in the centre it was lovely to go for walks through the village and into the countryside with out moving your car. Christmas cottage holds fond memories ..

A lovely cottage in a lovely village which was also convenient to other villages. Quiet and peaceful and thoroughly enjoyed!
February 2013
Arrived to find cottage freezing but when we put the heating on the cottage was fine by next morning, lovely dining room, great bathroom, modern kitchen, best of all was top quality bedding which goes a long way. People might think looking at the front of the cottage this might not be for them, they WOULD be mistaken, my wife and i walked in and loved the classy wooden furnture, no flat packs here. We would go out for the day and come back here and it felt home from home. This was lovely cottage in a lovely village, we have booked up to stay in June for 2 weeks because it was so relaxing.
November 2015
Cosy comfortable cottage. Last night there it snowed and we were so cosy we didn't even realise it until the morning.
