We loved our stay at the Coachman's Cottage. The kids especially loved the attic bedroom - they're often asking when can we go back. The cottage was lovely and clean with plenty of space. We loved it so much we have just booked again for next year.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and the location was excellent for visiting Alton Towers.

One of our best holidays so far, not only was our cottage comfy and well located but we were totally spoilt with the British weather! A week was not long enough for all the different activities that were on offer in the surrounding area.

The Cottage was beautiful and in good reach for Alton towers. The owners made us feel very welcome on arrival and the Cottage was equipped with everything you needed for a self catering holiday, plus extras to entertain the children. Great touch!

Lovely well furnished and maintained cottage. Excellent hosts. Welcome tray was nice touch with the home made bread. So much to see and do in the area we could have spent many more weeks there.

Very helpful and friendly owner. Very well appointed kitchen. The living room was warm and comfortable with a lovely wood burning stove.

A warm welcome on arrival and the lovely home-made bread was delicious. The property was as described but with one small shower room with WC I would not like to stay there if there were 5 people there at the same time. Unfortunately located next to a very busy road with speeding traffic and not the easiest location to find.

We stayed at this very cosy cottage in late March/early April 2014, using it as a base to recce walks for our Rambling Club. The property renovation must be relatively new and we found the property to be quite smart, clean and tidy. Everything we required was to hand (apart from a potato peeler) and the owner welcomed us warmly. We saw her from time to time as she was supervising the renovation of the remainder of the barn but we were not inconvenienced at all by this. Living room and bedrooms were quite spacious and the overall heating was more than adequate for the inclement weather. The shingle patio area at the rear of the property is nice although we couln't use it to it's full potential as the weather was cool but in the summer it would be a nice area to sit out for coffee or meals. Our only caveat is that the property fronts on to a busy main road. We had the double bedroom at the rear of the property and didn't really notice the traffic but our friends in the upper bedroom indicated that they could hear traffic noise early in the morning but didn't seemed to be bothered at other times. In summary, we had a truly delightful week in the property and, as it is in such great walking area, we are resolved to return. We would thoroughly recommend it as it was excellent value for money which is, after all, the only real criteria.

Spotlessly clean cottage with everything you'd need. Kids loved their 'attic room' and Alton Towers was only 6 miles away. Cottage was warm, bigger than the online photos looked and a great base. The owners even provided freshly baked bread and milk and were very friendly. We found it a bit difficult to find but just look out for the 'sewing academy' sign. Only downside was no wifi, but a digital detox was good for our kids!

The cottage was amazing and we all had a fantastic time. The building itself was beautiful and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely recommend this to other people and we hope to go back soon.

I have just come back from the most relaxing week's holiday at Coachman's. The property is modern and has everything you could possibly need or want. The owners are the perfect people to rent from. Nothing was too much for them and their local knowledge was fantastic for an outsider. Many thanks to them and to Sykes for showing me the cottage in the first place. Marvellous. I'll be back!

The usual story, you pack early, you are ready early, then for some reason or another you leave late. Half way there the sat nav decides to lose itself on the A46 in Leicestershire so the old skills of looking at a map had to be used! Got near eventually but as it was teeming down we couldn't quite find the cottage, then out of the blue, a phone call from the owner with detailed route instructions, then a couple of minutes later we were there! First impressions, very bright, very clean and a friendly welcome from the owner, quick guided tour and we moved in, tired, but please to be away on a well earned break! Up at the crack of sparrows the next morning, after a very comfortable night, lovely sunny weather, and not a cloud in sight. A wander round the property produced a picture of a very recently renovated old barn very well done, although the cottage is on a busy road, not too much noise! The cottage is very near to Alton Tower, the reason we were there was to take our three grandchildren there which we did on the Wednesday, (Hint GO EARLY, VERY EARLY) the queues to get in are a tadge LONG, but as it was August Bank Holiday week what do you expect? The Leek are we found to be very pleasant and the locals very friendly, especially towards the kids. Lots of pubs to eat out in and the odd Farm Show here and there. A very nice week was enjoyed by all of us (Two adults & three kids) In fact I was sad to leave on the Friday Morning!

My wife, kids and I stayed in this cottage in Feb of 2013, we have become fairly familiar with such properties as we've stayed in a fair few of them while I've been contracting. On this occasion however we were staying at the cottage while we were checking out the area and looking at more permanent houses. Anyway we booked this one via the Sykes web site and to be honest it was our second choice because our first fell through due to a problem with the property at the last minute. As this property had no reviews we didn't know what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival at the cottage the owners met us and give us a quick overview of everything including the central heating. The owners were extremely friendly and when we explained that we were in the area looking for houses they told us that they'd left us a local paper and offered their advise on the local area and told us if there was anything they could do to help then they would be happy to help. They even offered to send us local newspapers after we'd gone. They were friendly and helpful in every way and we couldn't fault them at all. The cottage itself was extremely clean and was clearly fairly new, the courtyard area would have been nice in summer but as it was extremely cold when we went we didn't get much of a chance to use it. The kitchen was a decent size for such a property and had all the usual amenities: dishwasher, microwave, cooker, hob, kettle, toaster, etc. The owners had left us milk in the fridge and a basket containing orange juice, cookies, what looked like home made bread and some oatcakes with instructions on how to cook them (a really nice touch we thought) The living space was a decent size and had literally everything you could want. A sofa, sofa-bed, a decent sized television for the living space, a games machine (PSONE), digital TV (which had all channels available including Dave and UK TV Gold which are often not enabled in such properties) they also had a collection of books, games and DVD's. One night we ended up watching one of our favourites "V for Vendetta" which was in the collection they'd left. There were also a number of childrens DVD's which was great as it gave the kids something to watch and again we thought this was a nice touch as kids are often overlooked. Finally in the corner of the room were a load of board games which we didn't use personally but again we thought was a nice touch. On the first floor was the shower room / toilet and the main bedroom. The bedroom was spacious and had plenty of room for our travel cot and some. In fact we were surprised that there wasn't a full king sized bed as the room was certainly big enough. again everything was quite modern. The shower in fact was some space age looking thing with built in radio etc. On the top floor was the second bedroom, which was rather large and had three beds, the room was again rather spacious and had lots of nightlights etc so made a good kids bedroom. Our eldest (3 year old) ended up sleeping up here while the youngest (almost 2) ended up sleeping in his cot in our room. My only two suggestions to improve the property further were inclusion of some form of WIFI service and maybe having some stair gates or something for the smaller kids. I actually liked this property so much that I immediately went back to the Sykes website to try and book another 2 weeks in the middle of March to cover me while I was working in the area but waiting to move to our new property, unfortunately someone had beaten us to it!

The cottage is very clean and spacious and having the washing machine is a godsend so we can wash in the evenings and not return home to a massive pile of washing! There are even toys, games and books there for the kids.
