Congl Y Wal description

Holiday home
Congl y Wal is a charming terraced cottage in Manod, 1.3 miles from Blaenau Ffestiniog town centre. The cottage has a double and a single bedroom, a bathroom, and downstairs, a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking for one car, and an enclosed lawned garden with patio and furniture. Congl y Wan is an ideal base for Snowdonia, the coastline and for relaxing in this beautiful part of Wales.

The mountain of Manod Mawr has a long history of slate mining and some of the underground chambers were used to house National Treasures during the 2nd World War. Manod village is located in a natural bowl between the Manod and Moelwyn mountains and is well served by a number of shops and pubs, which are used to serving travellers on their way to Betws-Y-Coed, the 'Gateway to Snowdonia' and the village at the base of Mount Snowdon. Many of Manod's old slate quarries are now tourist attractions, giving fascinating insights into the work undertaken by slate miners in years gone by. The nearby Ffestioniog Railway takes passengers on stunning scenic routes through the North Wales countryside. There are many good walks and cycle trails to be found in the area and Manod's location provides easy access to other attractions such as Portmeirion - the Italian-designed village used as the setting for the cult TV-show, 'The Prisoner' and the white-water rafting opportunities provided at Bala.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

This was a fantastic little cottage and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. It was cosy and spotlessly clean and tidy. A great area for walking with some lovely views! I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends. If you are looking for the perfect little holiday home this is definitely worth visiting.

A fantastic cottage, the best we have stayed in! Every item needed was available and the kitchen was excellent. We took a dog there is a dog friendly pub 15 minutes walk away - a very friendly pub. Had beautiful scenery, the slate caverns were also well worth the visit.

The property was wonderfully; cosy and comfortable with lovely mountain views at the back. It was situated in a good location for all the places we wanted to visit. We particularly liked the fact that the garden was secure so that we could let out our dogs. The owner was very unobtrusive.

A really cosy place in a nice village and not too far to travel out. We visited a few places but with the log burner going and the TV on in the evening we were good as well. It was like staying in a home from home.

We stayed here in november with a dog, on a walking holiday; it was a charming cottage, and the wood burner was a real bonus, when we returned after every walk, wet and cold, the kitchen was well equipped, and the cottage had a lovely welcoming feel to it. Would definately return.
