Daisy Cottage description

Holiday home
Daisy Cottage is situated close to the village of Baycliff, six miles from Ulverston in Cumbria and can sleep two people in one king-size double bedroom with a freestanding bath and en-suite wet room. The rest of the cottage contains an open plan living area with kitchen, dining room and sitting room. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and a private patio area with hot tub. Located close to the Lake District National Park, Daisy Cottage would suit a couple looking to explore this wonderful area and all it has to offer.

Situated on the coast, across from Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham. Local folklore says that the village was once a mile long and that many of the cottages were washed away. Aldingham also has a reputation as a smuggler's village, the perpetrators hiding brandy from France and tobacco from America within the church crypt. The village itself is close to Furness Abbey as well as the ancient market town of Ulverston, just five miles away. Ulverston boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday, in addition to many festivals throughout the year. These include an amazing lantern procession in November and an atmospheric Dickensian weekend in early December. The town is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel, famous for his work with Oliver Hardy, and as such is home to the only museum dedicated to this double act in the world. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches of the Furness Coast, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in themountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Underfloor heating with electric fire. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, mini freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2 x TVs with Freeview, DVD, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. We had a wonderful week at Daisy Cottage. We were so impressed with the quality of the cottage. The kitchen was really well stocked with crockery and cutlery. We loved the hot tub, the bed was super comfy and the whole week was so relaxing, with lots of things to see and do in the area. There are loads of amazing restaurants and cafes a short car journey away.

We spent our honeymoon here. 3 evenings in the cottage, 1 we went out for a posh meal. We explored the area for the rest of the time, bought potatoes from the nearby farm to cook which were lovely. Nice evening walk through the fields at the front and down to the beach. Such a nice break.

Stayed at this cottage last week for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The cottage has all the amenities you need however I feel it could benefit from a few extras such as hooks in the bathroom to hang a towel whilst showering and perhaps another shelf away from the shower to put toiletries that you would like to keep dry. Also the photographs show 2 settees and there was only 1 two seater so another chair or small settee would be nice so you can put your feet up at the end of the day. One of the blinds in the bedroom had been taken away for repair and a note explaining this would have been nice or some sort of alternative supplied. This was a specialist blind because of the shape of the window so not easily fixed we realised but it virtually rendered the bath useless because you couldn't get out without people on the road getting an eyeful! We had to hang a towel over the TV on a night to try and get some privacy. Also a lamp would be nice to have on at nighttime. The hot tub was lovely and nice and hot but the steps to get in are way too high and we couldn't use them. We did still get in however but it wasn't easy! We were a little disappointed as there didn't appear to be a pub within walking distance which is what we like to do on an evening, there was a pub further down the road but the road wasn't a safe road to walk on especially at night. We did see a closer pub on a back road but this appeared closed for the season. There was a definite lack of information in the cottage, loads of leaflets on attractions but no local info apart from telephone numbers. Don't get me wrong we did enjoy our stay but were a little disappointed with the area.
