Dessie's Cottage description

Holiday home
Dessie's Cottage is a detached cottage is in an isolated location, 4 miles from the town of Macroom in the centre of County Cork in Ireland. With two double bedrooms and one family room (with three single beds) as well as two family shower rooms, this cottage sleeps up to seven people in comfort. The rest of the accommodation is made up of a fitted kitchen, a dining room with French doors to the garden and a sitting room. Outside the cottage is off road parking for 4 cars, a front lawned garden with decked area, garden furniture and a BBQ with a field to the rear with horses. Set in an isolated location, Dessie's Cottage is ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful holiday in rural Ireland.

The market town of Macroom nestles in the valley of the Sullane River and is dominated by the walls of Macroom Castle. This bustling town offers a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs, three hotels and still holds a twice weekly street market. One of Macroom's best kept secrets, Castle Demesne, is set amidst 100s of acres of woodland, awash with riverside walks and stunning, panoramic views of the town, while three miles from Macroom lie western Europe's only extensive remains of Alluvial Forest. The town's museum houses a fascinating anthology of folklore material together with one of the finest collections of the West Cork hooded cloak. Carrigaphooca Castle, stood on an outcrop of rock, high above the trees is worth a visit, while the fabulous cities of Cork and Killarney are within easy touring distance, as are the stunning beaches of West Cork.

County Cork is full of truly breathtaking natural beauty. With unspoilt beaches, historic castles, and modern visitor attractions, there's plenty for all ages to absorb and there is always plenty to see and do in County Cork.

A lovely typically Irish spacious cottage set in beautiful remote countryside. The interior is delightful with personal artwork and carvings which make it incredibly homely. I would most definitely return to this cottage. A great base for exploring Cork and Kerry.

Great place, enjoyed it greatly.

Owner very friendly and approachable, home was better than the pictures on the website. Its a bit isolated nearest village is 3 miles away. Cannot find anything bad to say. All in all, well worth the money!

The owner was very willing to fix any problems whilst away, very trusting as well. Lovely calm atmosphere in the cottage.

The owner was very helpful, providing maps and tips on places to visit. There was some fresh fruit, grown on site, in the fridge and an offer to help ourselves to more. There was also wood cut for the first fire, with lots more outside. The cottage was comfortable and provided everything we needed. The surrounding area was great for after supper walks with great views no matter which direction you looked. It wasn't very hard to find either. After the first drive out there, following the owner, we never got lost. The property would work well for anyone. And there was lots of outside space to enjoy in the yard for kids.

Enjoyed the wonderful position and character of this cottage, but a dirty kitchen and bed linen took the shine off our holiday. We spent the first half day cleaning the kitchen. And then borrowed clean sheets from elsewhere. The actual cottage is fine and enjoyed its qualities.

The owners couldn't do enough for us. They made us feel very welcome. The pictures on the website do not do Dessies Cottage justice. A beautiful cottage tastefully restored. You MUST stay in this cottage.

The owner was great and friendly. Nice cottage and quiet surroundings. Easy to get around to where we were going.
