Driftwood description

This delightful single-storey holiday home is at the end of a row in a quiet residential crescent of similar properties, overlooking communal lawned grounds. Offering warm and homely, tastefully furnished accommodation for couples or small families, Driftwood is a great base for exploring the area. It is a few minutes’ walk from the local garden centre with farm shop serving tea, and about a 10-minute walk from the nearest pub serving good food. There is also a village store with post office and off licence, as well as a pub and restaurant within ¼ mile. Beaches at Milford-on-Sea and Hordle Cliff are about 2 miles distant, and the lovely sailing/market town of Lymington with its ’olde worlde’ charm, cobbled streets lined with boutiques and nautical memorabilia, Saturday street market and ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, can be reached in about a 5-minute drive. There is a garage for guest’s use on request to store bikes or sailing equipment.

Continue 5 miles along the coast to the beach and castle tea rooms at Highcliffe, 2 miles further to the harbour at Mudeford with fishing trips, then on to Avon with its beach, fish restaurant and cafés. Carry on to Hengistbury Head with its Iron Age settlements, and finally on to Christchurch with its priory and river walks, restaurants/shops and Art Deco cinema/theatre.

The unspoilt forest and heathland with wandering ponies and cattle is what makes the New Forest famous. Miles of beautiful walks are available, or alternatively the surrounding area can be explored by car or on bicycle via the many cycle paths; discover some of the appealing villages, towns, attractions and gardens such as the Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. Other places to visit within easy driving distance include Salisbury or Winchester Cathedral. Further afield but well worth a trip, is Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool. Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime history at Southampton, are also within easy reach. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole is within a short drive, with many popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming. Beach 2 miles.
