East Lodge description

Holiday home
East Lodge is a charming, detached cottage set in the hamlet of Dunragit near Stranraer. With one ground floor double bedroom and one twin leading directly from the stairs, this cottage can sleep four people. There is also a ground floor bathroom, a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a multi-fuel stove. Outside, there is off road parking for one car and an enclosed garden with furniture. Surrounding East Lodge is wonderful countryside to explore, whether by foot or bike, making this property a superb base for your Scottish getaway.

Stranraer became a Burgh of Barony in 1596 and a Royal Burgh in 1617. Stranraer lies on the shores of Loch Ryan on the northern side of the isthmus joining the Rhins of Galloway to the mainland. There are many shops and cafes to while away an hour or two and the Stranraer Town Trail explains some of the fascinating history. For walkers the Southern Upland Way touches Stranraer on its way through the Galloway Hills, having begun in Portpatrick 7 miles to the west.

Oil central heating with multi-fuel stove. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Fuel, power and starter pack for stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 1 car. Lockable bike storage. Enclosed side lawned garden with furniture and BBQ. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 2.5 miles, pub 4 miles. Note: The garden is tiered, resulting in a 3ft drop over one garden wall. The cottage was cosy, comfy and well equipped with everything we needed. The garden and gravelled areas were secure. We found plenty to see and do, the cottage is just a short drive from Stranraer with plenty of shops and cafes. We would love to go back again.

We had a lovely relaxed holiday in a clean cottage. East Lodge is a good base for exploring the South West of Scotland and the surrounding area. The cottage was well equipped and the garden was safe for our dog.

This cottage was a little piece of heaven set in beautiful gardens, in a stunning part of the country. The cottage itself was immaculate and well equipped with everything we needed. We will definitely be booking again.

Had excellent access to the main routes and there was a lovely beach just a short drive away and it was so quiet. Countryside or coast was accessible within a short time. Enjoyed every day, wish we could have stayed longer.

The cottage was lovely; very cosy and containing everything we needed. There were plenty of shops locally in Stranraer which was only a few minutes drive away. There were beautiful gardens to wander through about a mile away and we found Portpatrick a lovely little village. There were great walks for the dog as well.

A cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings, it is central to be able to visit all parts of the coast, which we did. It also had a lane behind with woods leading to gardens and the mansion house which was ideal for taking our dog for a walk.

The cottage was very easy to find, everything was as described and cosy with the fire lit. There was lots to do and see in the area, walking in the woods and watching the deer was amazing. Port Patrick was lovely and walking the coastal path was breathtaking.
