We enjoyed lovely weather for our stay in Embleton Cottage in July this year. We have visited Northumberland many times, and in our view this area is the best on the coast, as it is within easy reach of Craster, Alnwick and Bamburgh, our favourite places, along with wonderful beaches and coastal walks.
The cottage is situated right next door to the pub, which is rarely open, but we were able to enjoy a pint in our own sunny garden, followed by dinner outside. There is a small garden table and chairs, not mentioned in the cottage details. Although the cottage is on the roadside, it is a very quiet position.
The kitchen/diner is very well equipped and the lounge is comfortably furnished and quite big enough for four adults. The lovely big master bedroom has a very small, very compact but fully functioning en-suite shower room. The beautiful, spacious main bathroom is the only room upstairs. We felt that the second, twin, bedroom was very small and better suited to two children than adults, particularly as access to the main bathroom was across the lounge, through the kitchen and up a flight of stairs - quite a trek in the middle of the night.
Embleton has a couple of pubs and a small but well stocked shop just around the corner. Visit the mobile chippy on Tuesday evenings for very good fish and chips, and don't forget Robsons of Craster for kippers, crabs and other seafood.
