Embleton Cottage Beach Cottage description

Holiday home
Embleton Cottage is a stone built detached cottage situated in the village of Embleton, close to Alnwick in Northumberland. This cottage sleeps four people and has one double bedroom with an ensuite shower and one twin, as well as a family bathroom. The cottage also has a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with open fire. Outside, this cottage has ample roadside parking nearby and a garden with garden furniture. Embleton Cottage is an ideal holiday cottage, which is close to many places of interest.

The charming village of Embleton dates back to pre-medieval times, and its fine Norman church, the Church of the Holy Trinity, was built in the 12th century. In recent years, a Heritage Trails Project has been set up to explore the history of the parish, and its well-designed walks range from a stroll round the village to a six mile route along the coast and inland. Golfers can enjoy playing on a number of different courses in the area, and the area is famous for its wide, sandy bays, dunes and beaches. Close by is the fishing village of Craster and the magnificent ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle. Howick Hall gardens and Alnwick Castle and Garden are among the local attractions which are also well worth a visit. Embleton offers a warm welcome to visitors, and is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful part of Northumberland.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

We love Embleton - a really nice village and within walking distance of the sea. Lots of places to visit were within easy reach. The cottage was very nice indeed - very clean and tidy and the owner was very friendly. There were plenty of places to eat within the vicinity and a fish and chip van visiting on a Tuesday! Lots and lots of birds - a really enjoyable holiday.

Embleton Cottage was clean, comfortable and roomy, and we had everything we needed for a restful stay. We liked the open fire and spent one evening in after a meal at a local pub, which was very good. The location of the cottage was extremely quiet, especially at night which suited us! The village was picturesque and the local people friendly. Embleton was an ideal base for exploring further afield, but also had some sandy beaches nearby. We loved it and would definitely like to return.

A lovely scenic, peaceful location, yet situated in the centre of the village so very close to amenities. The cottage was both comfortable and clean. Children loved the park opposite and us adults particularly enjoyed the open fire. Our children (age 5 and 3) wanted to stay forever and not come home which basically says it all! All in all, a welcoming, handy location for visiting Northumbria.

March 2005
The cottage was very comfortable and in a very quiet part of the village. We were a bit concerned about it being next to the village pub, but there was never more than a handful of locals in there and we never heard any noise at all. The cottage had everything we needed and was in a very good location to tour the area.
December 2009
This holiday started from the time I telephoned the owner to say, we were coming. The cottage is in an excellent position, and the village is everything you could want. A relaxing yet very interesting historical and picturesque area. Walk on the beach or paddle in the water Embleton has the best beach ever. The walk to Craster via Dunstanburgh Castle is yet to be beaten - IT IS FANTASTIC!. The only downside is having to leave.
December 2009
Embleton is a wonderful peaceful, safe village, the cottage was just what we wanted, we watched the fireworks for November 5th from the front garden, the weather was fantastic for the time of year. It's quite easy to pick up the A1 for visits further North and Alnwick, a very quaint town within easy reach. Of course I'm biased I was born in Northumberland and just think its the most wonderful county. There isn't anything I can find fault with.

September 2013
We enjoyed lovely weather for our stay in Embleton Cottage in July this year. We have visited Northumberland many times, and in our view this area is the best on the coast, as it is within easy reach of Craster, Alnwick and Bamburgh, our favourite places, along with wonderful beaches and coastal walks. The cottage is situated right next door to the pub, which is rarely open, but we were able to enjoy a pint in our own sunny garden, followed by dinner outside. There is a small garden table and chairs, not mentioned in the cottage details. Although the cottage is on the roadside, it is a very quiet position. The kitchen/diner is very well equipped and the lounge is comfortably furnished and quite big enough for four adults. The lovely big master bedroom has a very small, very compact but fully functioning en-suite shower room. The beautiful, spacious main bathroom is the only room upstairs. We felt that the second, twin, bedroom was very small and better suited to two children than adults, particularly as access to the main bathroom was across the lounge, through the kitchen and up a flight of stairs - quite a trek in the middle of the night. Embleton has a couple of pubs and a small but well stocked shop just around the corner. Visit the mobile chippy on Tuesday evenings for very good fish and chips, and don't forget Robsons of Craster for kippers, crabs and other seafood.

December 2004
The cottage is in a truly excellent location for exploring the local area - stay for several weeks and not run out of things to do. Just 10 minutes walk to a fabulous quiet beach with wonderful views of Dunstanburgh Castle.
December 2009
Our second visit to this charming cottage with its individual layout. The village and location once agin provided the perfect respite from a hectic city life. Local eating places remain outstanding and a real reason to go back again and again.
