Foxglove Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
This stone-built mid-terrace cottage is located in a pretty courtyard development on the edge of the bustling market town of Richmond. This property, converted from a former coach house, provides comfortable accommodation in a peaceful setting, just a few minutes' walk from the town centre and the river. With an open plan living area and a sunny patio – perfect for sitting out and enjoying an evening meal – this property makes a wonderful base for a family or two couples. The amenities and activities on offer in Richmond are close by and the surrounding countryside is full of other fascinating things to see and do.

Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the ancient market town of Richmond boasts cobbled streets and narrow alleys -or 'wynds' - that have evolved over nine centuries. The town itself grew up around the local castle; a Norman fortress dating back to 1071 that is situated high above the river. Even the name 'Richmond' can be traced to the fortification, as 'Riche-mont' literally means 'strong hill'. Within the town narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place which is still home a weekly market and monthly farmer's market whilst throughout the rest of the week visitors can enjoy numerous shops, pubs and restaurants.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Gas central heating with electric fire in sitting area. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, shared access to washing machine and tumble dryer, TV, DVD, video, CD/radio, WiFi, small library of books/games. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Towels not inc. in rent. Front patio area with furniture. Ample off road parking in designated parking area approx. 70 metres from property. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 5 mins walk, pub 15 mins walk. Note: Max. 4 inc. infants.

This is in every respect a first class place to stay. The owners have evidently gone to some trouble to make sure everything you might want is available. It is very clean and generally well found and set in a nice environment. Richmond itself a pleasant place to stay whilst you explore the Dales and Durham, Ripon, Fountains Abbey and the local area. We would certainly recommend and stay there again.

Cottage was within walking distance from the town centre and there was space to park the car near the cottage. There are board games and books for entertainment and a good range of leaflets informing us about local attractions.

Great location for good walks. Richmond is a lovely town and easy to walk to. The area was quiet and restful and the property had lovely cottage bedrooms. We really appreciated a pint of milk in the fridge and the tea towels, washing up liquid etc which I often forget to bring. We had a lovely stay.

The Cottage sits in a large and beautiful garden with its own patio. 10 minutes walk uphill to the town but quicker down! The Talbot Inn is dog friendly. Overall a great stay!
May 2012
The cottage was fantastic. It was clean, and the owners had even left tea, coffee and milk, which I thought was a lovely touch. The photos are exactly as the cottage, not misleading in any way. It was quiet, which is what we were after and close enough to Richmond centre to have a little walk up. There was even a washer and dryer. The owners were fantastic when I rang up for details, so an all round brilliant service.

This cottage is situated within easy walking distance of the town centre and there is ample parking space to leave your car. The cottage is quite small but is very clean and well furnished and equipped. The only thing we would have liked which was not provided was a hairdryer. There were books and games for entertainment and a few DVDs. We didn't take any towels with us so had to go and buy some but tea towels and a bathmat were provided. Outside there was a garden table and chairs although the weather was not good enough for us to use them during our stay. I would definitely recommend this cottage.
February 2011
Foxglove cottage was well equipped for a family of four. Spotlessly clean and nobody else's "leftovers" in the kitchen cupboards. Warm and cosy, small but spacious, Owner often around and about to sort things out (pipes froze due to extreme temperatures at xmas) Tastefully decorated with xmas tree etc. Lovely lights in the gardens
