Gardener's Cottage description

Holiday home
Gardener's Cottage is a lovely holiday home, set within two acres of grounds with Alma House, a Victorian gentleman's residence dating back to the 1875. The cottage has two bedrooms, a room with a king-size bed on the first floor than can be unzipped into twin beds on request, plus a room with a single bed on the ground floor and a bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath an shower attachment. Downstairs is kept cosy with underfloor heating; there is a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a multi-fuel stove. Outside is off road parking for two cars and a patio with furniture along with shared use of the owner's hot tub. Gardener's Cottage has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, yet is within half a mile of local amenities, making it a wonderful base for a break in the country.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th Century church with "Crooked Spire", twisting curiously from its true centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its boating lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. An interesting base for a varied break.

The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Gardener's Cottage was really nice and we would recommend to anyone to stay there. The owners were always only a phone call away and the cottage had everything you could need to make sure your stay was hassle free.

Excellent location for main attractions. Beautiful cottage that has been lovingly restored, walled garden is superb, the photographs didn't do it justice. The owner was friendly and happy to offer advice.

A fantastic accommodation that is close to the countryside, but also close enough to be able to walk to shops, pubs and restaurants/takeaways. The fabulous fully walled garden is great for dogs. All in all, a really great retreat.

Gardener's Cottage is a perfect getaway. I stayed here with my two best friends and we had a wonderful time. The cottage itself is beautiful and has a lovely wood burner and a hot tub to use. It is easy to get to via the M1 and acted as a great base to explore the local area. We visited Dovedale near Ashbourne and Bakewell, both are a must if you stay here.

The cottage was beautiful, along with the gardens and hot tub! Now that was fantastic in the cold frosty evenings, we made the most of this delightful cottage. If you're looking for somewhere beautiful, peaceful, dog friendly and close to lovely walks and interesting places to see then its Gardener's Cottage.

In beautiful countryside, and within numerous sites of interest, Gardener's Cottage proved to be the ideal base and location. Sitting in the hot tub sipping a glass of wine one evening was very pleasant! I wouldn't hesitate to re-book the property, and felt quite sad on leaving - a sign of a good holiday!
