It was on the Norfolk and Suffolk Border, so we had the best of both worlds, so to speak. We were not far from the wonderful coastline, as well as being only a short distance away from any sort of town, with beautiful little villages all around us. The cottage itself was comfortable and clean and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. The stars at night from the cottage are breathtaking, as there is no light pollution, and I stood out there looking at them on the patio, whilst listening to the owl twittering, so it was a beautiful place to relax. No noise from anywhere.

The owners have thought of everything. I wasn't expecting to find tea, coffee, washing up liquid as all those little annoying things that you need to pack for a self catering holiday had been considered and supplied. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and the shower amazing. The owners were very accommodating towards our puppy and children and use of the owners garden was very welcome.

The accommodation is of a very high quality, you could easily live here. The owners are considerate hosts - helpful when needed but unobtrusive. The nearest town, Harleston has a Good Hotel, a small supermarket and lots of small independent shops. You will need to drive everywhere but not far to find interesting towns and villages.

Everything was just perfect for us. It was a pleasure to stay in such a lovely holiday cottage which was in a very good position for visiting so many nice places in Norfolk/Suffolk. We shall certainly recommend Golden Cross to our family and friends.

It was lovely to arrive at a clean, comfortable, light and airy bungalow. The owners made us feel very welcome with a tea tray and milk in the fridge, and fresh eggs from their own hens. Our private patio was very nice and we could also walk in their own garden. There was also ample parking. Every detail had been thought of.

A lovely cottage in pretty countryside and the best equipped cottage I have ever stayed in bar one! The owners were truly delightful people and very ready to give of their local knowledge and to help where necessary. The one small omission in the cottage was rectified immediately. Your staff were all polite, friendly and helpful in finding us a cottage for a last minute break.

We stayed at Golden Cross on a cycling holiday and found it great. We were straight out on to quiet lanes from the cottage and had some brilliant days out. On our return we had everything we needed. A great shower, washing machine and good kitchen to make food for ourselves in the evenings. All round it was excellent, even to the extent we were left 6 eggs from the owners chickens to start our holiday.

Just returned from a 5 night break at Golden Cross. High quality accommodation both in terms of the accommodation and the facilities/equipment available. In great rural location but within easy reach of near by towns and the coast. Provided a perfect get away after Christmas and the provision of a fully decorated Christmas Tree reflects the attention to detail. Would highly recommend.

If you have young grandsons to entertain during the school holiday for Half Term, and have to make sure they are not bored, you might not think a holiday cottage in a Norfolk Village would be the thing to do, especially when you take into account that they come from a village in Suffolk!! We found it very comfortable, and for some reason, the boys liked to keep their room tidy??The cottage was lovely and clean and welcoming, as were the Owners, and couldn't do enough for us. We went for local walks and saw cattle and Llamas, and all kinds of wildlife. We drove for days out to Alderburgh, and all seaside places within an hours drive, like Southwold, and Gt Yarmouth to see the magnificent Sea Life Centre which was well worth a visit, and kept the boys amused, together with all the fish and chips and lovely fresh sea food wherever we went, plus we bought some and took it back for tea, with bread all fresh from the little shop in an adjoining village on the way home. There is no light pollution at the cottage at night, and the sound of the owl as I stood outside the back door and looked up at the stars one night was lovely. The stars were so beautiful, you could see the Milky Way, and the whole time spent there which I think was Sunday night to Thurs night of Half Term was so relaxing , even with young men who were never bored at any point. They had to be home by Friday as it was Halloween, and they were going to a Party, so we dropped them off, and, as I listened to them talking to their parents, who seemed a lot more relaxed for having had some time to themselves, and hearing them recount all they had done, and showing off photos they had taken, plus seeing them laugh and laugh at the tricks they played on their granddad, I realised it had been more fun for them than I had anticipated it would have been when I booked it. We live 2 hours drive away from them, and so, it was a pleasure to have them all to ourselves, and the cottage had a great deal to do with that. It provided for all our needs. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, old, young, whatever your needs, if you want a nice relaxing stay, in peace and quiet with lots of fresh air, and sea air only a drive away, go and stay there. My only gripe was that the satnav took us home a few times the "country roads way ", until we got our bearings and took a more direct route, but that is the problem of the satnav, not the cottage.

The Golden Cross is a beautifully converted holiday cottage which is a great base for touring Suffolk. All the furnishings are top quality and it is equipped with everything you need for a great stay. Dogs are welcome and there is a lovely little private patio to each cottage which is fenced off from the owners garden. Pam and Harry are welcoming owners and they have made a great job of converting these cottages.

We really enjoyed staying in this delightful cottage, very clean, beautifully furnished with every comfort and very well designed and thought out to make it so very dog friendly which just made our stay there so relaxing!! Great hosts, delightful to talk to, and very helpful, cannot praise this enough!!
January 2014
We had a lovely break with all modern facilities. The football field opposite was a real bonus for walking the dog. Good access to the whole of Norfolk/Suffolk. Steps to the property were a little difficult for an older person. Owners were very helpful. There is secure parking next to the cottage and access to the owners garden. Would recommend this for a peaceful break but mobile phone coverage is difficult.

Have already sent this to you but will do again. We had a great break nice to be out in the country with country smells, the cottage was very nice and all we needed.very well looked after, what a great couple hope to go back some time.

This cottage is ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet. The cottage is decorated to a high standard and is clean and tidy. The shower in particular was great. You need a car to explore the area and one downside is that there is no wi-fi but that is personal preference. The owners make you feel really welcome, they are knowledgable about the local area. The welcome tray of milk, eggs and fruit juice is a nice touch after a long journey.
