This is an excellent location in the Hope Valley. Heath Cottage was a delightful place to come back to at the end of each day with a helpful landlady. we would return.
The views were to die for, the peace and quiet was priceless and the cottage was spotless and comfortable; top class all round.
Great location, clean and comfortable accommodation.
Friendly owner, clean accommodation, complete kitchen, comfortable bed, cosy sitting area and a great view. What else could you want from a holiday?
An excellent cottage, very friendly owners and lovely views. Could not ask for a better location.
The cottage was very well stocked for all your needs and the owner was friendly and helpful. It is also a good base for walks. I would stay there again.
Heath Cottage is a really nice cosy cottage in a great setting, just a few minutes walk to Edale village with it's pubs, Plenty of great walks nearby although it can get very busy around Mam Tor.
Great location and very friendly owners. All amenities spot on. We recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a nice relaxing break with a pub close by and fantastic walks.
Very friendly and helpful owners. Lovely location.
One of the best locations in the Peaks. Ideal for observing country life and being within easy reach of attractive country towns and historic attractions.
Edale is a beautiful valley, staying on a farm within walking distance was just right. The owner was very friendly and had provided everything we needed, a hot towel rail was a real plus as we had endless rain and needed some pampering. Very well equipped for a couple.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Peaceful tranquil with stunning views from inside and outside the cottage. If you are looking for a comfortable and relaxing place to stay, then this location and the property will tick all the boxes.
The cottage was extremely comfortable. We were very impressed with the provision of kitchen items and were especially glad to see a cafetiere as we had left ours at home. The provision of milk and fresh flowers made a big difference too, believe it or not!
We liked the fact that we were in the countryside but could walk into the village with ease. We loved the location and the owners were very friendly and helpful.
The cottage was great, super views from all windows in the lounge. Very well fitted out with everything you could need for a relaxing break away. Will definitely go back to the farm again.
Lovely, peaceful retreat but very near to lots of places of interest. Lots to do in the area but great to come back to a quiet relaxing place. The owner was very friendly and helpful. All in all a very good week!
It was a peaceful location with excellent views. It was possible to walk directly to places without needing to drive.
The setting and those wonderful views. Also, we were able to vacate late and enjoy the last day.
The property is on a working farm and in a particularly scenic part of Derbyshire. It was good to see the work involved in sheep farming. The cosy cottage and garden fulfilled all our needs. The owners were very welcoming and sociable. As hill walking was part of the reason for our choice it was good to be able to set off directly from the cottage. Our thanks to our hostess and her husband for sharing their property with us.
The location is scenic, peaceful and close to the facilities.
The situation of the cottage was perfect with amazing views down the valley. The owner went to the trouble of providing milk in the fridge on arrival and fresh flowers in the lounge and bedroom which were much appreciated.
We had a fantastic week the weather was great for the time of the year. It was lovely to sit in the garden with a coffee after a day's walking. Being able to leave the car and walk from the property was good too.
The cottage is in an ideal location - great for walking. Despite being a working farm it was very quiet and peaceful. Owners helpful and friendly. Lovely views from cottage.
Peace and quiet, abundance of bird life, best of all the owners were very friendly, extremely kind and above all else, warm and friendly. Brilliant.
Friendly owners, convenient location for walks and village, quiet and off the road location.
A most wonderful setting; on a sunny day we could have sat for hours just watching the play of the sunlight on the hills. Ideally situated - we made several trips out and would recommend Lyme Park (NT) in Cheshire. Very welcoming, watching the wildlife was fun. A repeat trip is a distinct possibility!
It was a lovely farm and setting. The cottage was to a very high standard and the owners were very friendly and helpful.
Very relaxing, quite remote but just as we like it. I would go again.
Superb views, good accommodation, easy reach of Pennine Way and plenty of local interest etc.
We recommend eating in Castleton. The Castle Hotel was very good. Superb views from the cottage and farm.
Owners very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location in the Edale valley, very secluded. Plenty of good walks from the door.
The accommodation was excellent and the owners were very helpful. It was interesting to stay on a working farm. We would recommend this property to anyone.
All-round superb, peaceful location within the Edale Valley. Several stunning walks 'on the doorstep', include Mam Tor and Kinder Plateau. Birdwatchers will love this spot - there are brilliant displays by the 'local' swallows along with visits from a Lesser-Spotted Woodpecker and numerous finches etc.
The cottage was nicely decorated, clean and well maintained. It was well placed for walking and sightseeing. I had a very enjoyable week.
The owners were very helpful friendly.
This cottage is in a very good location, you can just open the door up on to the hills of your choice. Pub food available a short walk away.
We received a lovely welcome accompanied by beautiful surroundings. The perfect holiday.
Owners of cottage were very helpful welcoming. Spotlessly clean nice garden.
The cottage was very cosy and in a beautiful location in the Edale valley with wonderful views all around.
A lovely tranquil setting, a great cosy cottage with welcoming owners. An ideal base for walking. We would love to come back.
The magical views and seclusion.
Superb location . Very helpful friendly owners. Good facilities for 2 people. Brilliant views (we had good weather too!). Would definitely return.
Peaceful and away from the rat-race.
Friendly host. Beautiful surroundings.
Heath Cottage was everything we wanted. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners friendly and welcoming.
The Peak District itself, of course. We'll definitely holiday in the Peak District again and use Heath Cottage.
The most attractive farmyard we have ever seen and the best stocked fridge on arrival, very useful if we had gone by train and were relying on milk from the local shop.
Fantastic setting - we hardly used the car and did lots of walking. The village pubs are great and the train station in walking distance.
Ideal location with plenty of walks from the cottage door.
This was our third visit to the cottage and we loved it just as much, particularly the snow! We do intend to visit again.
Well located cottage. Good views. Close to good walks.
The owners are most friendly. The cottage is ideally placed for walking in the area.
The owners of the accommodation were friendly and welcoming. We were very impressed with the attention to detail. The views from the cottage were wonderful.
The cottage appeared to be in the middle of nowhere, but a ten minute walk along a well marked footpath bought you into the centre of Edale. The pub, The Nags Head, served excellent food all day and in no way were you made to feel unwelcome, in fact if you weren't in walking boots you were out of place.
Mr Mrs King
Excellent views from the sitting room and garden. Very friendly owners.
Mr Mrs Weatheritt
The standard of the property was like a hotel suite. It was just what we wanted to be free to come and go. The food at the Nags head was wonderful. Just a 10 minute walk to the village.
Fantastic views, very relaxing and peaceful weekend break.
Beautiful views and a friendly welcome. Very relaxing and lots to do near by.
The cottage is very pleasent and well situated and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The cottage is very well equipped and we look forward to going there again.
Relaxing, well positioned, friendly owners, definitely worth returning to.
Lovely location, great views, friendly people.
A really comfortable and cosy cottage.
Brilliant views. Friendly owners. A very relaxing holiday.
Great walking from the front door. Local pub not open Mondays in winter.
This was my second visit and will be going again in the future
As we have been to the cottage before and enjoyed our stay the first time that is why we rebooked the cottage. Family very helpful and freindly could not do more for you. Very enjoyable time
Wonderful views. Excellent for walkers and cyclists. Lots of attractions only a few miles away. Such attention to detail. Warm, cosy and peaceful. Wonderful views etc. We had a fantastic stay in the cottage.
Super little cottage, well maintained and decorated and a wonderful view from the lounge and the private garden.
We found the cottage excellent - everything was catered for. The owners were very helpful. The views excellent, ideal for couples and families alike.
The cottage was cosy and well equipped, and the owners were very hospitable.
Wonderful south facing garden. Idyllic in the sunshine.Very relaxing - rather remote from larger towns but ideal to get away from it all. Perfect for walkers.
The views are wonderful and the accommodation very comfortable. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, a very enjoyable stay.
Castleton well worth a visit. Walking on the Pennine Way from Edals is excellent. Cottage very comfortable for two, in lovely quiet position. Helpful owner.
A great location with many wonderful walks just outside the door, highly recomended. Also a great homely and cosy cottage
I liked this so much that I want to keep it a secret. The end of a lane and a pleasant walk to the Edale Hamlet. Fantastic views of Mam Tor and the associated scarp. We only had to use the car once (we took it to Hope to shop and to walk to Castleton along the river - 30/40 mins). Very good value for money and delightful landlady in the farmhouse next door. Edale has a couple of good restaurants/pubs and is easy walking distance (so you can have a couple of holiday pints!). Lovely terrace to sit on, quiet sleeping. Walkers paradise either up into the hills or around the local lanes and easy footpaths of the Edale valley. Put the kids in the camp site near by and mum and dad can stay here perhaps. We're going back in the winter.
The area .... splendidly rural .... walking was excellent, and not just for those who wanted to do long treks across the moors etc.
The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming to us. The cottage, although small, had been very well converted and was very comfortable. The views out of the living room were excellent. The location was ideal for walking, and a good base to explore the Peak District.
My sister and I enjoyed a relaxing holiday. The cottage was ideal and had a lovely garden, which we were able to sit in in the glorius sunshine. The Lady of the House was very friendly. We would recommend it.
Excellent location for walks around the area. Cottage was excellent for two but had crockery, glasses, and chairs etc for four. Very friendly owners.
Location, Location, Location, Absolutely beautiful tranquil valley, nice cottage, nice people, loved it.
An excellent central location for walking in the Peak District
Mr & Mrs Bray
Warm & friendly welcome upon arrival. Beautiful location. Poachers Arms in Hope served great food. handy convenience store in Hope
When we arrived snow was very deep and we were
unable to get our car up the lane that lead to the
farm and cottage. We needn't have worried, the
owners; John and Sally where there to help us;
taking us up to the cottage in their four wheel
drive. If that wasn't enough Sally even went out of
her way and brought our food supply's from the
village some miles away. Just like 'Sykes
Cottages', Sally and John were so helpful, we were
warm and content and above al; felt entirely safe.
A huge thanks to 'Sykes' for making it possible
through their friendly Staff, and to John and Sally
for making it such a memorable Christmas.
Many Thanks. D. Read.
The owners were very friendly and helpful but in no way intrusive. The cottage was very sweet, small but ideal for two. Perfect location for walking and pubs nearby for food. We love the Peak District so this was and ideal spot to explore from. The Edale Valley does get 'the weather' but on rainy days a good book and a lovely view was all that was needed.
The cottage was one of four located around a farmyard on a sheep farm. The farm was was within walking distance of two pubs and a small shop. General shopping is in Hope about 5 miles distant. The cottage is in a scenic setting with easy access to walking routes and open access land.
The cottage had everything to make a comfortable stay. The owners were attentive without being intrusive.
we should recommend a stay at the cottage.
The cottage was very well equiped in all areas. A lovely setting with fantastic views of the Edale hills in the peak district. Close proximity of 2 public houses which both served good food for hill walkers. A great place to escape and have a well earned rest!
Owners were very friendly and welcoming and it was nice to be in the country and within a few minutes walk of the village. Weather was very wet and there was not a lot to do in those conditions. Had it been a nice sunny week it would have been a totally different holiday. However the little cottage was very comfortable and well worth a second visit in the future. A lovely spot to visit
A lovely clean small but very comfortable place in a stunning setting. Couldn't have wished for anything more
We were happy with the unobtrusive approach of the owners on this working farm. The cottage looked impossibly tiny on the outside but seemed a lot bigger inside and offered everything we needed for a week. The views were extensive and beautiful from the cottage and farmyard and there were wonderful hill walks all round. A short walk took us into leafy Edale with its visitor centre, tiny shop, and two pubs. Unfortunately the nearest pub served up terrible food, and we didn't try the other one. Luckily there were plenty of others to choose from in the area, if you were prepared to drive a short way.
We had an excellent relaxing stay here, the location was brilliant with 2 pubs just up the road and it was in walking distance to all available walks. Would highly recommend this cottage.
