High Sprintgill Cottage description

Holiday home
High Sprintgill Cottage is situated just four miles from Ravenstonedale. The cottage sleeps six people and has one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom with an additional folding bed, a bathroom, a fitted kitchen with a small dining area, a sitting room with woodburner and a dining room with piano. Outside the cottage offers off road parking for two cars and a rear enclosed garden with furniture, a BBQ and a small beck. With the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks both nearby, High Sprintgill Cottage is a lovely base for discovering Cumbria and the surrounding area.

A small and compact village, Ravenstonedale has much to offer the visitor seeking a quieter experience than the nearby Lake District National Park provides. It is a pretty village; traditional whitewashed stone cottages and stone walls border the fields, whilst theRaven brook trickles by. St Oswald's church is largely from the Georgian era, comprising a solid structure with a simple square tower. In addition, there are elements from older buildings incorporated in it, and the base of a Saxon cross just outside. To the north of the church, excavations in 1920 revealed the foundations of a 13th Century Gilbertine Abbey. Ravenstonedale is a fantastic base for exploring the Lakes to the west or the Yorkshire Dales, just a short drive to the east. Those who prefer to stay closer to home can explore the Howgill Fells, the rounded hills which signal the start of the Lakeland ranges.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Spintgill Cottage. The cottage was really olde world but with a modern kitchen and bathroom. The view from the garden was lovely and it was so peaceful. Sometimes sheep would come and graze on the snowdrops and we saw red squirrels. Would definitely return.

It is a really old fashioned and authentic cottage. The view is magnificent and the environment beautiful. I like cooking on the AGA very much.

Views were amazing, perfect place to relax. Family time in front of the coal fire was lovely. Everything was provided, and the caretaker was really helpful. We had a lovely Christmas stay at High Sprintgill, and would stay again.

Lovely AGA and storage heaters in the property meant the house was always warm when we returned from a day out. Location was very good, not too far from getting the essentials but far enough not to have traffic outside the window.

Very good location - remote but close enough to facilities. Lovely views. Liked the open fire and Aga.

The area was lovely and the property was amazing - it had everything you needed. There were loads of brochures to help us find our way around.

We stayed at the cottage with a group of friends. The house is lovely and has anything you need, even fiber internet access. But still traditionally decorated and very cosy. Breathtaking views around the house. If you want to go hiking, just walk out of the house. There is lots of information provided by the owners, such as hiking maps and everything about nearby tourist attractions. The owners were lovely people and quickly responding when we had questions. We will definitively go back in the future and I can highly recommend this cottage.
