The Cottage was so comfortable and felt like home very quickly. The views were absolutely amazing, and it was a great central location from which to visit many places.

The cottage was a great find and we had a lovely time. It was lovely and quiet which was just what we needed after wedding planning! This was a great place for our honeymoon, and our four-month-old baby's first holiday. We will be booking to go back again in the future. The owners were lovely.

The location was fab and the cottage was excellent, but best of all was the lovely warm welcome we received on arriving, all the help with jack our dog when he fell ill and lots of information about places to go and see. Just a wonderful time made better by the owners.

This must be our 4th or 5th holiday at Hill Farm Cottage. It is such a lovely area, whether you just want to relax looking over the fields watching the lambs playing and the 3 chickens wondering by the window. Every time, we find somewhere different to go and explore. The owner is always on hand and just such a lovely person to chat with when she has time. We are back again in September, cant wait!

It is a beautiful cottage, located near the main farm building, but far enough away to be private. It is so peaceful with the most beautiful views. The owner is very friendly and really nice. It is also a lovely area located witching driving distance to Hereford and Abergavenny.

My husband I always know that Hill Farm Cottage will give us a restful and relaxing week, our dog Dando likes his runs around the fields, and comes back to watch the 3 chickens wander past the window! The owner is so welcoming and friendly every time we visit. What more can we say except looking forward to the next time! Thank you for the welcome pack and Dandos treats!

Sat Nav brought us straight to the door. The owner was extremely helpful, but unobtrusive - loved the fresh eggs! We mentioned mountain biking and the next day we were given the details of a brilliant provider. We loved the absolute peace and quiet and the Cottage had everything we needed.

A beautiful well equipped cottage in beautiful settings, the owner was lovely and just left you to it. The farm animals were a delight to watch. Ten minutes drive to quaint village Ewyas Harold, with a well stocked shop, post office and 2 pubs with the friendliest of folk. We had a meal in The Temple Bar Inn - delicious! Would definitely recommend. We certainly will be returning.

March 2013
This is a truly lovely place to stay - stunning views, blissful peace and quiet, a comfortable cottage and a very genuine and warm welcome from the cottage's kind and thoughtful owners. The cottage faces across the fields and it's fun to watch the antics of the goats and the coming and goings of the sheep right outside the windows. The owners are happy for guests to wander around the farm at will. Lambing time would be a fascinating time to visit I think. Very easy to get to Hereford. Lovely cathedral and a nice farmers market on a Saturday. Equally easy to get the Black Mountains. Don't hesitate to stay here during the winter time. We stayed during the snow in January and were beautifully warm and cosy. This is a very restful place with a really nice vibe about it. We have stayed in self-catering cottages for many, many years, there's not many we've been tempted to return to but this would be one of them!

Friendly greeting on arrival. Perfectly peaceful location and a very nice spacious and spotlessly clean cottage. The views were absolutely awe inspiring, to be surrounded by sheep, goats and chickens made it so relaxing but also close by were so many places to explore and eat at. The owner also left a greeting pack of essentials to start our holiday, I don't think anyone could ask for more.

Total peace and quiet. In a very secluded area overlooking fields and with lots of nice walks. Owners very nice, leaving a lovely welcome tray for our arrival. Cottage had lovely big hall way (tiled floor)- a good area for wet dogs/boots etc. Lovely views from most windows. Big rooms, ideal for wheelchairs if necessary.

The owners were very friendly and the property couldn't have been nicer. The surrounding countryside was spectacular and there were lots of interesting places to visit. We arrived just after lambing had finished and were entertained many evenings by the lambs antics. The fields were also dog friendly. We enjoyed the patio as it was a private sun-trap.

July 2011
Hill Farm Cottage was immaculately presented and perfectly situated for our holiday. I truly struggle to see how it could possibly be improved upon actually. The only thing I can think of is that it would benefit from a clock and a full-length mirror, but really these are trifles as the cottage had everything we needed, and more besides, to make our stay truely lovely. The owner was really nice and was helpful and approachable at all times, and added to the wonderful atmosphere of the property. It was so nice that she put some locally-produced treats, as well as essentials such as milk, tea and bread in the kitchen for us ready for our arrival. Such lovely thoughtfulness really makes the experience of staying at Hill Farm Cottage stand out!

I had a lovely relaxing holiday in the bungalow. Everything was just right. Being on a working sheep farm added to the ambiance of the country side.

September 2010
We had a fantastic weekend! Great location for visiting Ross, Hereford, Welsh Borders. Great place, fantastic views and lovely helpful owner, who directed us to fantastic butcher for great family and friends bbq! Thanks. Kids and dog walked for miles around the field. Will return!
May 2011
The bungalow was everything it said. The location was wonderful,so relaxing and quiet. The bungalow was furnished to a very high standard, everything needed was there. The host was most helpful. The evenings spent in front of the log burner were fabulous. The garden and the field were greatly appreciated by us both and the dog!
May 2011
The cottage was excellent, very clean and in a beautiful location. The owners were really friendly, my wife enjoyed visiting the lambs as they born, and our dog Rosie loved running in all the fields. We had a great holiday and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet holiday. The surrounding countryside in the Wye valley was excellant and great dog walking country

I stayed there for two weeks at the beginning of November, 2011 and it was such a peaceful and relaxing place to be! Oh, I miss it so much. The long walks along the country lanes, sitting on the back patio and writing...and being introduced to Welsh cakes by the nice woman who owns the place! When I first got there I noticed right away that the pictures on the Sykes Cottages website don't do the place justice. Also, when she was showing me around inside I was struck at how big it is! Very nicely decorated inside and my god how do I describe the view from the living room glass doors? Amazing!!
December 2012
Stayed here at the end of November 2012, with my wife and our spaniel, we had a wonderful time and I would certainly recommend it - in fact we plan to return in the Spring. The property is very spacious, with a very large hallway that is all tiled - this proved very useful as we were here when all the news was of flooding across the country - and everywhere was incredibly muddy and wet. So we had plenty of space to dry our gear, and it was easy to sweep up any mud that found its way indoors. (certainly cannot blame the weather on the venue). The property is nice and warm, the only slight downside was that the property smelt a bit of oil, the owner said this was due to a recent service of the boiler - so hopefully that situation will be resolved when we return. The bathroom is good - with an excellent power shower which was great for when we returned from walks feeling a bit wet and miserable. The lounge is really great - with excellent views and as said by other reviewers - I don't think the pictures do the property justice. The sofas are little bit tired and could probably benefit from some refurbishment - or at least some throws. The wood burner is a nice feature - but will only work if the wind is in the prevailing direction - be careful if it shifts - as happened one day to us - when the burner does not draw properly and the whole cottage flooded with smoke (with the alarm going off etc... bit of a nightmare). In fact if you open up the door and hold your hand up to the flue you can feel the draft of cold air coming down the flue - no way in a million years will it draw properly in that situation. However this only happened on one of the days we were there - and the rest of the time it was fantastic to chill out in the lounge with the burner blazing away. The countryside around and about is fantastic and on the couple of nice days we had - we were really able to enjoy some fabulous walks - the rest of the time it was a bit grim in terms of the weather for us, but we saw enough to make us want to come back and see the area in more favorable circumstances. There are some great pubs around and about, but you will need a car as even the nearest is a bit of a trek. All in all it is a great place, well situated at the top of the hill - with great views. The owners are nice and friendly and helpful. Enjoy!
March 2013
Hill Farm Cottage gave us: a genuinely warm welcome from kind and thoughtful owners; a lovely farm to wander around at will (walk behind the barns to see the stunning view down into the Dore Valley); the antics of pigmy goats, chickens and sheep to giggle over and blissful peace and quite. The cottage is very comfortable and bigger than it looks on the photographs. We have family in Hereford and the owners kindly allowed us to invite them to the cottage for the day. 11 of us (from 6 weeks old to 91 years old) spent a lovely Sunday with plenty of room to sit, eat and gossip. Always a bit concerned booking cottages in the winter in case they're cold and draughty but absolutely no need to have worried. We were at Hill Farm Cottage during the heavy snow fall in January and we couldn't have been warmer or more comfortable. There's a really nice "vibe" to this cottage and the farm and one of the few cottages we've stayed in that we would be more than happy to return to.
May 2013
The owners were very friendly and welcoming, in spite of being very busy with lambing which was fascinating to observe. The cottage was very warm and comfortable and in a glorious spot. Abbey Dore is very interesting and the cottage is very well placed between Hereford and abergavenny. There was nothing to fault with the cottage and the mixed weather meant that we really appreciated the cosy but spacious cottage.

We had a really great New Year in Hill Farm Cottage. The location is idyllic (for those who like peace and quiet). The property was incredibly spacious and the owners couldn't have been more welcoming whilst giving us all the space we needed! What more could you ask for - we will definitely be back!
November 2010
fantastic accomodation and excellent location for easy access to the wye valley, Hereford, and the welsh borders we crammed so much into the weekend and it was great to be able to take the dog too we walked for miles! We were visiting family and friends who all came to us for a bbq as we had everything we needed. It was great being away from the telly lots of great board games provided. We have recommended to family and friends and will return
