Hoopers End description

Holiday home
Hoopers End is a wonderful, end-terrace holiday home set over three floors within a stone barn conversion in Sedgwick, five miles from the market town of Kendal in the Lake District. The property has four bedrooms, three with double beds, including one on the second floor with an en-suite shower room, plus a room with twin beds. There is also a family bathroom with a bath and a separate shower, plus a WC in the utility room on the ground floor. There is a kitchen, and the dining room and sitting room can either be joined as one open plan space or closed off to provide a cosier room to relax by the woodburner-style gas fire. French doors open onto the terraced patio with a built-in seating area, which provides access to the lawned garden at the front of the property. There is off road parking for two cars and beautiful views of undulating Lakeland countryside. A wonderful holiday base for exploring the Lakes.

An historic Lakeland town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal sits on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th Century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. The Abbot Hall Art Gallery's regular collection exhibits portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Kendal itself is ideally placed for exploring South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. With other attractions such as Kendal Museum and the Museum of Lakeland Life, Lake Windermere and the wider National Park within easy reach, Kendal provides a superb base for a relaxing break.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Lots to do. Lovely house to come back to at the end of the day.

We particularly liked the space, luxury and comfort. The best holiday cottage we have used in over 30 years and we hope to return.

We felt that the property was extremely comfortable and we felt very much at home. Unusually for us we found ourselves reluctant to leave! We hope to return next year. We also liked the fact that the booking days were flexible, allowing us to stay for the days we wanted.

The cottage is superb. It's beautifully designed, with high quality furnishings. The space was exactly what we needed for our party of five. We particularly appreciated the cosy lounge area, the well-appointed kitchen, and the warm cupboard for drying wet clothes.

We (me and my wife) stayed here with five friends in July 2016 and every single one of us could have stayed longer. Even though there were seven of us in the house, it didn't feel like we were on top of each other - this place is really spacious and comfortable. It's in a lovely location overlooking fields (look out for the bunny rabbits running across the field!). The rooms are big and spacious, and its furnished to a very high standard. Even though it's not right by the main part of the Lake District, it's not too far to drive to anywhere in the South Lakes and it was nice to be out of the main thoroughfare anyway - it's a very peaceful place to stay! We'd definitely recommend Hoopers End.
