Jack's Cottage description

Holiday home
Jack's Cottage is a single-storey cottage on the Marbury Hall estate near Whitchurch. The cottage has a double bedroom and two twin rooms, along with a bathroom and a shower room. There is a kitchen, and the sitting area has a dining table and sofa bed along with doors out to the terrace and garden. Jack's Cottage has off road parking, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, as well as being within easy reach of the amenities of Whitchurch, and the historic attractions of Chester and Shrewsbury.

The wonderful market town of Whitchurch has a great deal of ancient history. Recorded as a settlement called Mediolanum as early as Roman times, buildings within the town include examples of Medieval, Tudor and Georgian architecture, all in the shadow of the beautiful St. Alkmund's Church.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Jack's Cottage suited our needs perfectly! The sunny patio was well used too. We had an amazing time and would recommend the cottage to anyone.

The cottage had a wonderful view over the fields where there were sheep, lambs and horses. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cottage was lovely and warm. My family from the USA were very impressed with the cottage and enjoyed the local area, walks and pubs. A great holiday and a lovely place to stay!

The cottage was furnished to a high standard and was very comfortable. The setting and views from the window were beautiful; it was very relaxing looking out onto the farmland. The patio was a little sun-trap! Some brisk walks across the footpaths enabled us to see the new-born lambs up close. A great place for a family holiday.

Jack's Cottage is beautifully presented. The owner was very friendly. The cottage is set in a beautiful area with many canal bank walks, points of interest and pretty towns and villages around it.

Jack's Cottage was a delightful place to spend a New Year with the family. It was snug and warm. The standard of soft furnishing was excellent and the kitchen was very well equipped. Our host was wonderful. She made us feel really welcome and went the extra mile by baking us a yummy cake, researching destinations and local routes for my runs and even took my 89 year old Dad on a tour of the estate in the Land Rover. The estate is beautiful with woodlands, a lake (mere) and livestock.

We have just come back from a fab weekend at this beautiful cottage, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The cottage is brilliant, with everything you could possibly need. So comfy and luxurious. The owner went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. Stunning views of the countryside made our stay even better! Would thoroughly recommend this cottage and would definitely go back.

Jack's Cottage is beautifully furnished and well-equipped and the beds are so comfortable! We explored the local area as well as going further afield, and my family from USA visited Liverpool, Wales, Ironbridge and Chester. Our host was very helpful and friendly, and took the youngster in our group to collect his own breakfast egg! Local pubs and restaurants were recommended to us for meals out, but we also enjoyed making our own meals in the cottage.
