The Dales village of Embsay is of ancient origin, with a stone circle dating back to the Bronze Age and having been the site of a monastic settlement in the 12th Century. Today it is popular with walkers and steam railway enthusiasts who come to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside and the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, with its award-winning authentic station buildings and steam trains. The Old Mill in the village centre boasts a needlecraft centre and coffee shop, whilst all the amenities and attractions of the lively bustling market town of Skipton are close at hand. Nearby are lots of popular places to visit, including Bolton Abbey, Kilnsey and Grassington making this an ideal location for a wonderful Dales holiday.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Katie's Cottage was ideal for us, a perfect retreat in a very quiet village very near to the pub! The cottage was a credit to the owner, so far the best one we have stayed in. The cottage was ideally placed to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Highly recommended.

Easy to live in cottage just right for a couple. Quiet yet with a couple of pubs serving food within walking distance in the village. Only a couple of miles into Skipton and all the extra facilities you would need. Lots to do within a reasonable driving distance.

This was a beautiful newly refurbished yet cosy cottage in an ideal location for touring the Dales and visiting local attractions, but also handily close to a decent pub! The owner couldn't have been more helpful, and I felt so much at home that I was looking for my post when I came in, then remembering that I didn't actually live there. I wish I did!

We had a lovely holiday at Katie's Cottage. The accommodation was ideal for two people and the renovation of an old property superb. The cottage was very near to the town of Skipton, handy for shopping and canal boat trips or walking the tow paths. There is plenty of great walks in the area for those of us who love walking.

Spent a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Katie's Cottage. The cottage has been decorated to a high standard with everything you could need and is situated in the lovely village of Embsay. Perfect for walks on the Yorkshire moors and easy access to Skipton and many other attractions Yorkshire has to offer. We visited the local pub (Emlm Tree Inn) which is less than a minutes walk and sampled their very good pub food at very reasonable prices. The only negative is that we never got to try out the impressive log burning stove as it wasn't cold enough. Will just have to book and go again in Winter!

The furnishings and fittings are of excellent quality and everything included for a relaxing holiday. There are two pubs in the village serving meals. We went to The Elm Tree Inn which is ideally situated 20 yards away. The inn serves decent pub grub at a reasonable price. The cottage itself is handily placed near to Skipton a lovely market town with its castle and the surrounding area is great for those who enjoy walking.
