Kingfisher Barn description

Holiday home
Kingfisher Barn is a first and second floor apartment in the Lake District village of Staveley. The apartment sleeps four people and has two double bedrooms, a family bathroom and an open plan living area with a kitchen and a sitting area. With the popular towns of Bowness-on-Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick all easily accessible by car or bus, Kingfisher Barn is ideally located for couples looking to discover the majesty of the Lake District National Park.

Staveley is situated between Kendal and Windermere and has gained a reputation as the Gateway to the Lakes. It is mainly comprised of picturesque, grey slate buildings, sandwiched between the rivers Kent and Gowan. This once forested area was grazed as early as 4000BC. Iron Age farmers settled first and were followed by the English and Scandinavians and evidence of these early civilizations can be found throughout the region. The village has an excellent range of amenities including a variety of shops, two pubs, craft shops and a railway station. Nearby, Windermere and Ambleside offer a number of attractions such as boat trips on Lake Windemere and a ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Very relaxing week. Our third visit to Staveley using different cottages each time. We were out on plenty of walks and sat outside the Hawkshead Brewery a couple of times. A really good break.

The accommodation was overall of a high standard, the owners have thought of everything, even down to a hair dryer! The furnishings were lovely, especially loved their choice of pictures of the surrounding lakes district. Staveley is a great little village in a picturesque landscape. I loved being near to the weir waterfall and hearing the water rushing whilst in the kitchen. The view towards Kentmere is pretty in the morning too.

The location of the cottage in the village of Staveley was perfect. The cottage was very comfortable and clean. We love the surrounding area for walking and being able to take the dog. Being able to park up the car and not use it for the whole week was perfect.

The location was fantastic, just outside the village centre, not far from a great pub with easy train access to Windermere. it was clean and recently re-furbished, great view from the kitchen up the valley. Good quality all round. I have already recommend it to friends.
