While planning a week away in the Peak District, I was searching for cottages to hire and discovered quite a few to choose from. We chose Bakewell as the base in the end due to it having plenty of amenities but also being a great location both to walk from throughout the peaks, with quick and easy access to the High Peak areas.
Kings Cottage stood out as it looked lovely and the location was right in the middle of the town. Needless to say we were not disappointed at all.
A gorgeous location in a very pretty courtyard that houses little cafes and shops, including a delicious looking chocolate shop, it was quiet and peaceful despite where it was. The cottage itself was very clean, really well stocked and very "homely" feeling. Despite good pictures on here, they don't necessarily show how charming this little place is.
With some good pubs (Try the Peacock - not cheap, but SO worth the money for the food, just make sure you are hungry), cafes and restaurants in the town, it's a perfect base to enjoy a quiet break and/or get out and do some of the great treks or bike rides the area has to offer.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone - just be aware that as in any small towns, parking can be a pain but the supply of a permit with the cottage helps!
