This property is a little gem. Not only is the accommodation to a high standard, it is also situated centrally in the town making everything easily accessible on foot. We were made to feel welcome on arrival, and the holiday was really relaxing and enjoyable. We would definitely want to stop here again if we were to return to the same area in the future.

Very good overall - good small touches made a big difference, and the cottage is very warm in the winter.

November 2014
The property was really well furnished, decorated and kept clean. It is probably the best furnished accommodation we have rented over the 30 years we have been holidaying in Britain.
April 2014
There were lovely touches such as a welcome pack of wine, chocolates and milk, which really did start the holiday off on a positive note. The accommodation was of a very high standard, and conveniently located in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. Local eateries and pubs were also of a high standard, in particular, The Mango Tree indian restaurant and The Black Bull hotel. Would definitely visit again, and have recommended to friends and family, also.

The cottage was gorgeous. Each day when we arrived back from a long days walk we could relax in the comfort of the cottage. There has obviously been a lot of thought been put into the cottage, and it really pays off. We would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Light and bright bedroom, lovely jacuzzi bath, very comfy bed. Upper level was really nicely decorated and the sofa bed was great for relaxing and watching TV! Kitchen well stocked, really nice touches with the milk on arrival and the wine and choccies. The info in the property on the surrounding area was also really comprehensive, nice to know the history of the cottage as well! We had a lovely time and the property was finished to a really high standard.

The overall quality of the cottage was fantastic and the furnishings were luxurious. The convenience of being able to walk from the cottage to local shops, pubs and restaurants was a big reason for choosing the cottage.

Great base for both Yorkshire Moors and the Lakes.

August 2012
Everything we needed was in the apartment and the wine and chocolates were a nice touch as were the milk in the fridge and the tea, coffee and sugar supplied. The whole feel of the apartment was welcoming and was nice to come back to at the end of the day. It was also very convenient for the shops, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance so no need to get out a car at night. There was a good butcher just over the road that sold excellent fillet steak when we decided to eat in.
Mr Sykes

The service by Sykes was excellent, very polite and professional and the property itself was ideal for our needs. In fact, it was so nice that we ended up staying indoors most of the time just so we could appreciate it more.

Laburnum Cottage is perfect for couples without children. A very comfortable bed and a lovely whirlpool bath. Very tastefully decorated and clean. It's set in a good location to visit both the Cumbrian and North Yorkshire sights.

October 2010
We loved the decor and it was very comfortable; it couldn't have been better.
September 2012
My boyfriend and I enjoyed everything about this wonderful cottage. From the moment you open the door there is a calm and loving feeling about Laburnum Cottage. Everything is immaculate, luxurious and perfectly set up for a couple on a break in the Lake or Peak District. We didn't actually look too closely at the map when we booked (thought we were staying in the Lakes...) however this was a great spot with fantastic village amenities, the chip shops are goood.
October 2012
Apartment had everything needed. The only thing it didn't have was a washing machine/tumble dryer, which would have been useful when we came back grubby and wet from a couple of walks. The bed was very comfortable. The apartment is right in the heart of Kirkby Stephen, which was convenient for the shops and the pubs, and there were walks from the apartment or within a short drive. The wine and chocolates in the apartment when we arrived were a nice touch. The only downside was parking, which was limited next to the apartment, but there was parking in the street behind and a walk-through. If all else failed there is a public car park a bit further back a few minutes walk away. It could also get noisy at night, especially at the weekend. The pub just up and across the road from the apartment seemed to attract the youngsters, who were quite vocal a couple of nights. Also it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems, as there were two flights of steep stairs to get to the sitting room and kitchen and the bedroom was on the first floor. However we would certainly consider staying there again if we were in the area and we would recommend to friends and family.

March 2011
Relaxing, peaceful and very thoughtfully laid out/decorated. The cottage was absolutely ideal for the relaxed week off that we had in mind. The surrounding area had all the necessary amenities and the locals are incredibly friendly and helpful.
December 2012
Located in the centre of this small town with a few cafes, three pubs, multiple pretty shops and enough eateries at close hand. This property is gorgeously romantic, with excellent attention to detail - from the fresh flowers and high quality bed linen, to the luxury bathroom and well-appointed kitchen. We would highly recommend this place for a fabulous hideaway for two!

Little gem. Modern, simple life especially, white furnishings, fresh and very clean. Located on the busy Market Square, great if you like to watch the world go by whilst relaxing in comfort. First floor beautiful double bedroom and bathroom with Jacuzzi (lovely end to a day). Plus realistic big bath sheets (pet hate if mine is tiny towels!) Upper floor open plan living and kitchen. Kitchen extremely well equipped with full size fridge freezer too. Little essentials like washing up liquid, soaps, cling film, foil etc all included. Decent sized TV with freeview and DVD s. Lovely comfy sofa to snuggle on. Plus quirky swinging chair. Loved our stay, I really didn't want to come back to real life! Highly recommended for a romantic getaway.

November 2010
It was our honeymoon so we just enjoyed our time unwinding and relaxing. The cottage was fabulous, so cosy and modern. On our arrival a lovely welcome basket was waiting for us. Quite a lot to explore as well and a lot of information on places to go and visit. Pubs and restaurants in the area are very good, all staff so friendly and made you feel welcome.

November 2010
The accommodation was lovely and was in a really good spot in regards to getting to places. Kirkby Stephen was a lovely town and there were nice walks near there.
July 2010
An excellent getaway if you need a romantic break. It's a gorgeous place to stay and I'm already recommending it to people and I'll definitely be making a comeback soon!! The jacuzzi - a must!!

August 2010
The accommodation was good and near plenty of nice walks. Lady below in the florist shop very helpful.
July 2015
Cottage is very clean and well prepared. Fresh flowers in the bedroom are a lovely welcoming touch as are the Prosecco and chocolates and the milk for a welcome cuppa on arrival. Even being situated very close to a surprisingly busy road did not deter from our enjoyment of the property as we slept through the noise most of the time. All you need is on the doorstep, great little tearoom with lovely cakes, pubs and restaurants providing good food, plenty of walks off the beaten track and good proximity to the lakes.
June 2015
We chose location, location, location due to meeting friends in area. We enjoyed our stay the apartment had great views onto the market square and beyond onto the hills. They had all the facilities including washing machine that a stay required. It was tastefully decorated and had a quirky swing chair that was enjoyed by friends who visited and by my partner. The location was convenient for The lakes and Yorkshire Moors. The town itself had enjoyable scenic walks. The Appleby Horse Fair was coming up and we saw the horses and carriages of the traveller community on route to Appleby. With the Appleby fair upcoming the nights were becoming more noisy. The owner had produced a short brochure of local amenities, restaurants and how to use the central heating system. The only down side was the initial set of stairs that were quite steep and narrow. All in all we thoroughly liked our stay and would recommend to couples.

What a gorgeous little find! My boyfriend and I have just returned from a weekend away. We literally can't fault this place! It's beautifully decorated to a high standard with lots of lovely touches such as the high quality bed and bath sheets, Denby crockery and the prosecco and chocolates upon arrival. We wanted a weekend of relaxation and this was perfect! We can't wait to return!
July 2014
What a find! A lovely clean and tidy apartment, with everything we needed for a very comfortable week. Ideal location between the Lakes and the Dales. I sleep like a log so it wasn't a problem for me, but the roadside location may be rather noisy for some as the traffic is quite busy early in the morning - the plus side is that the bus stop is right outside too! Flowers, fizz and milk on arrival were a nice touch - thank you Nigel. We'll be back - soon we hope!
