Mews Cottage description

Holiday home
Mews Cottage is an outstanding, mews cottage, set within an 18th century country house, designed by Robert Adam, near Mauchline in Ayrshire. This glorious cottage is set mostly over the ground floor offering a wonderful double room, with an en-suite shower room, and a twin room. There is also a family bathroom and an open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a sumptuous sitting area. On a mezzanine level you will find a separate sitting room where you can watch some TV or catch up on some reading. Outside, there is a front courtyard and off road parking for one car, with three more spaces available adjacent to the cottage. There are also shared lawned gardens and woodlands surrounding the property. Mews Cottage truly is a magnificent base for small groups of family and friends, wishing to explore Ayrshire.

The village of Mauchline sits peacefully in the lovely hills and countryside in an ideal spot for exploring the beautiful scenery of Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran. Mauchline is probably most famous for being the home of Robert Burns, who farmed in the area for many years and the house he shared with his wife Jean Amour, is now a museum and part of the Burns Trail. There are several golf courses including The Royal Troon close to the village. Culzean Castle is a magnificent National Trust for Scotland property and has been the principal seat of the Kennedy Family since 1759. The country park is 600 acres and has so many attractions for visitors to enjoy.

Can you give 20 out of 10? Mews Cottage would be the best place we've stayed at while travelling around the UK. It was spacious and modern, tastefully decorated, quiet, secure, clean and warm. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Arriving in the middle of the night in darkness to a warm spacious house was wonderful. Far preferable to a hotel room. It was so welcoming that we stayed in on the Sunday, our last day- it was pouring with rain and we had a lovely family catch up with our Sunday lunch, unhindered by the usual Sunday chores and distractions at home- it was a real home from home and blissfully quiet.

Mews Cottage is an extremely well appointed apartment in a beautiful location, with everything we could have needed for a wonderfully restful week. With a friendly, helpful owner who did everything she could to ensure we had a good time, from the lovely welcome basket and the guided tour of the apartment, to the reminder to contact her if we needed anything.

A lovely property in a lovely setting. The owners were very helpful, and were happy to speak with us whenever we needed their assistance. They also very kindly brought some of their home-grown potatoes for us and some garden furniture as well.
