Mews Cottage description

Holiday home
Mews Cottage is a perfect holiday cottage with a secluded walled garden in Pooley Bridge on the edge of Ullswater, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District, within walking distance of the village pubs and shops. The cottage has a double room and a single room, a bathroom, a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with open fire. Outside is off road parking for two cars and a walled garden with furniture. Mews Cottage is within walking distance of Ullswater lake, and the amenities of the village, and makes an ideal touring base.

The village of Pooley Bridge is situated on the edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. Pooley Bridge offers many traditional inns, tea rooms, a Post Office and the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. The location of Mews Cottage was brilliant; 2 minutes to the side of the lake and within easy reach of other lakeside towns. Cottage was really cosy with plenty of hot water. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Have just come back from a wonderful week here with my 20 year old son, walking the fells. Mews Cottage was cosy and warm, just perfect for returning at dusk, drying out, eating and relaxing. Brilliant location: Post Office that's also a food shop, newsagent etc only a few yards away, 3 pubs, and a tea shop, the lake steamer boat right there. Easy to get to by Virgin Trains to Penrith (very cheap in advance) and Stagecoach bus to the door, even on Sundays in winter. Loads of walks on your doorstep and even a cultural centre (Rheged) nearby that's great for shopping and coffee, as well as films, exhibitions and kids play. At the end of our stay our wonderful hosts even gave us a lift to the station as they feared that the weather might have stopped the buses.

The cottage was just like being at home. It was very cosy and warm with fantastic views, and in a lovely village. We were able to do walks without having to drive. A perfect holiday for us.
